Kirishima waved goodbye to Sero as he made his way out the door. The sun had set not but an hour ago but Kirishima could easily feel the temperature difference from this morning. Even with the difference though, it was still pleasantly warm and he was sure he would enjoy his walk home.
He sighed. The day was tiring to say the least, even if nothing but a near fight had happened. Maybe it was his sleep schedule. Should he go to sleep earlier? Kirishima shook the thoughts away and ran a hand through his hair, his feet carrying him over the uneven sidewalk that lined the front of the store.
He was in no hurry, instead, he moved at a leisurely pace. Good thing too, or he wouldn't have seen the sleeping figure resting at one of the metal outdoor tables. With tentative movements, he approached the stranger, hoping to wake him and tell him to go home or to offer him whatever money he had left. He gently shook the shoulder of the slumbering stranger, earning a groggy and muffled groan in return. He wasn't dead, that was a plus sign.
"The hell do you want?" The voice sounded oddly familiar to Kirishima but he took nothing of it, he did meet a lot of people in the store while he worked, maybe it was someone he'd met.
"Sir? Could you wake up? The stores closing up for the night." Kirishima didn't want to leave this man here whether he was homeless or not, it surely couldn't be to comfortable sleeping outside on a metal picnic table that smelled of ketchup and cigarette smoke.
The man growled under his breath and lifted his head to look up at Kirishima. Almost immediately he was met with familiar eyes of red. "You're finally off shitty hair? I thought I'd have to sit out here for another hour."
Kirishima raised an inquisitive eyebrow, "Why were you waiting for me to be off?" He paled, "Were you going to mug me or something? Look, man, I didn't mean anything by kicking you out, okay? I was just doing my job." The teen took a few steps back, hands up in an attempt to show surrender. The last thing he wanted was to be stabbed just as he got off work. Kirishima looked around the area. No one was in sight and the only light he had at the moment was the yellowish glow of a nearby streetlamp.
The blonde rolled his eyes, "No you fucking idiot, I'm not going to mug you."
"Oh. Yeah, I knew that," Kirishima said, waving his previous words off as if they were some kind of joke, though he was still wary.
Bakugou ignored the comment and shoved a hand in his pocket, pulling out a worn, black, leather wallet as he stood. Flipping the small wallet open, he pulled out a few bills and thrust them in Kirishima's direction, "Here." Kirishima only stared at the bills in confusion. After a second, Bakugou sighed exasperatedly and pressed the money to Kirishima's chest. "I felt like an ass for causing you to pay for those fuckers bill. I don't know how much you spent but this'll have to do."
"You waited out here for my entire shift just to give me money?" The thought of Bakugou taking the time to sit out here in the scorching heat just to repay Kirishima made his breath hitch for a split second as a tight feeling enclosed his heart. He had no clue what the feeling was so he wrote it off as just simply being tired. How else could he explain it? "So manly," Kirishima joked, a grin spreading across his face.
"Don't flatter yourself, I didn't do it because I wanted to."
"Did someone make you?"
"No."
Kirishima raised an eyebrow, "Some moral obligation?"
"...No."
"I have a feeling that you don't know why you stayed," Kirishima said, a sly grin replaced his previous smile.
"Do you want to die, shitty hair?" The threat thrown by the blonde didn't seem nearly as menacing as Kirishima would have found it earlier. What would be the point of nearly melting throughout the day if he were going to do anything harmful to Kirishima? There wouldn't be. Bakugou spoke up once again, "So are you going to take the money or not? I'm not going to stand here all night." Kirishima snapped back to reality and glanced down to the money in Bakugou's fist.
"Nah man, I can't take your money," Kirishima said, giving a gentle shake of his head as he took a step back.
Despite Bakugou's impatience, the teen almost seemed like he would force the money on Kirishima. He pushed the money towards Kirishima once again. "Just take it." Kirishima shook his head again, this time taking a step off the sidewalk. Who thought that such a grumpy guy could be so persistent. As much as he found Bakugou interesting, Kirishima really wanted to get home at this point. Sleep sounded enticing and Kirishima's eyelids felt as heavy as bricks.
He even had to stifle a yawn as he forced a smile, "I tell you what, keep your money and repay me by joining me and a few others at the lake tomorrow." The suggestion made Bakugou quirk an eyebrow and cross his arms. Kirishima could practically see the objection dancing at the tip of the blonde's tongue. "Of course you don't have to come but you'd totally be missing out on a killer time," Kirishima said with a nonchalant shrug, turning around as he did so. He sent a quick wave to Bakugou from over his shoulder before the blonde could say anything in return, though Kirishima swore he could hear a quiet insult followed by a chuckle pass through the teen's lips.
Kirishima walked home slowly, taking in the suburbian scenery of well-trimmed trees, square bushes, and low-cut grass that the residents seemed to mow every day. Briefly, Kirishima thought of the altercation between him and Bakugou. He wondered if he would show up. Yeah, Kirishima wouldn't be too disappointed if he didn't come, but some part of him, for some reason, thought that maybe, just maybe, he and Bakugou could be good friends.
