Chapter 18: Married

It has been several months since their first incident and Peter and Ava have decided to get married on the helicarrier. Many heroes would be there and it was rare for heroes to marry each other, making it extra special. There was one factor that they didn't consider: Taskmaster.

A few hours in the future...

"You may now kiss the bride." said the priest.

The couple proceeded until Peter's spider-sense went off. He looked around confused after kissing Ava. Phantom caught his gaze and just nodded. As if perfectly timed, a bullet directed towards Ava flew by. Unable to get his new wife out of the way, Peter put himself in between the bullet and Ava, gaining a look of shock from the surrounding heroes. Phantom and his team staring at the couple. Peter gives a reassuring nod towards Phantom, his ribcage punctured, he struggles to get up. Blood fills his suit as Ava gasps.

Phantom nods towards his comrades as they all press buttons on their wrists, making their eyes glow and their speed increases. They charge towards the sniper highlighted in red. For context, this is basically Bloodhound's Beast of the Hunt. Like a pack of wolves, they surrounded the target. Noticing that he couldn't escape, Taskmaster stood ready to fight.

Phantom approached him with his fists up, the two traded blows with Phantom barely even flinching while Taskmaster was in a world of hurt. It escalated to the point where the villain was out cold. To supply his mark, Phantom collected his trophy.

Meanwhile...

Heroes stood around an unconscious Peter Parker, the Nanites were unable to heal his wounds so he lay in a S.H.I.E.L.D hospital bed with Ava at his side. Phantom walked into the room holding a severed head with Taskmaster's mask, blood still dripping from it. Phantom took his mask off to show an angrier than normal Phantom, his eyes glowed redder than ever and the duration was more than usual, something was wrong.

Phantom dropped the head to the floor and approached Peter's bedside holding some kind of remote. He pressed a button and the unconscious Peter awoke in shock.

"Threat is dealt with, Parker..." Phantom said pointing to the head on the floor.

"Jesus fucking Christ, Phantom!!!" Peter replied still shocked.

"I'm a motherfucker alright... I'm guessing two distressing objects in the room."

"First off, why the fuck is there are severed head and second, what the hell was that?"

"I killed Taskmaster," Phantom replied gaining a shock from the surrounding heroes, "and I just jumpstarted your conscience. Taskmaster used a special bullet preventing regeneration."

Peter sighed with relief, kissing the head of a sleeping Ava. Ava stirred in her seat and awoke to see the same two startling things. Her eyes widened at the head while tears filled her eyes seeing Peter awake.

"Peter!" she exclaimed happily, gaining another kiss from her new husband.

"I love you, kitten."

"I love you too, slinger."

Phantom exited the room, debating on telling of what he had done in the past. Ghost (not Marvel) emerged in front of him.

"I thought we already settled the thing." said the feminine figure.

"Now there is another task I cannot decide on completing..." replied Phantom darkly.

"We'll tell them together," said Ghost cheerfully.

"Don't act like my parent, Riley." chuckled Phantom.

"Fine, Alexander, we need to get the word out somehow."

Another new character? And did we just hear their real names? More in the next chapter. I have an idea for a story that goes with this, (White Spider) and Phantom Psycho (publishing tomorrow. Contains some background on Phantom.)
