It was a special day
When you smiled at me for the first timeIt felt warm and exciting
Like the glittering waves of the ocean under the sunIt was special
In that we both didn't know what'd happen
How far we'd go
What stories we'd write
And what tantrums we'd throwFor we didn't know
Whether this was a one time thing
Or the start of a forever
Or maybe we would end too soon
And become those friends who meet once a yearYou were a firestone
And I, a raging stormYou were living without any purpose
And I
I was hell bent on destroying my lifeAnd yet that single smile
Changed two very different lives
And led to something so beautiful
It felt afterwards that everything was fineYou were an unexplored region
You intrigued me
And I decided I might as well give it a tryWhat we both hadn't predicted was that we'd remain best friends till we die
Laughing till our stomachs hurt
Talking all day
Wishing we could stay a little longerDays felt shorter and nights seemed to pass by in a blur
Every moment with you became a wonderful memory of its own
Meeting you was my good luckI didn't know I was incomplete
Until I met you and I felt wholeIt definitely was a special day
When you smiled at me
For it was the first of those many smiles
That we'd share over this lifetimeEven the tag of a best friend felt a bit less for what you'd become
We were one
In that we knew everything about the other
And yet it always felt like there was so much more to exploreOur ship sailed for the first time on that special day
It definitely wasn't a calm journeyStorm after storm
Kept hitting our starboard side
And yet like true sailors
We kept our heads high
And mended and repaired what we knew we'd cherish for lifeIt doesn't matter how much time has passed
Or how much time we might have to spend apart
We may be far but never far enough
We might have fights but never big enough
There will be frustrations
But still we'll keep going onThis friendship is a blessing
And I promise to torment you
Till the end of time.
dedicated to my useless friends
