Had I known that'd be the last time I'd see you
I'd have held your hand and sang you a melody
But I didn't
And the last thing you heard was a car horn blocking out all other sounds from your life, forever.Had I known that'd be the last time I'd see you
I'd have looked at you as if I were meeting you for the first time
And memorized all your perfect features and locked them deep within me
But instead the last thing you ever saw
Was the car barreling into your side
and the world spinning before your eyes, before you lost all consciousnessHad I known that'd be the last time I'd see you
I'd have touched your feather light skin with my broken fingers to commit every touch to my memory
But instead
The last thing your skin ever felt was the blood trickling down your face as you laid on the ground, barely alive.Had I known that'd be the last time I'd see you
I'd have told you all that I wanted to
I'd have given you the words I never did before
But I didn't
And the last words you got were by a stranger calling the ambulanceIf only I'd known that'd be the last time I'd see you
I'd have told you a thousand times how much I love you
I'd have made sure my last words to you weren't "I'm sorry"
But they were
And the last words that ever left your mouth just happened to be "I'm done".
