Lori clicked her tongue and the white stallion circling her picked up his left canter lead and continued circling her at a canter.

The pair had recently been practicing free lunging and Tricky was learning fast, making Lori's job much easier.

"Whoah, boy. Easy." Lori said in a low but stern voice and upon command the grey stallion slowed down to a working trot and then a medium walk, stoping directly in front of Lori facing her with his ears pricked and listening, eyes watching, and nostrils blowing soft puffs of air towards her.

"Good boy," she cooed as she reached her hand forward. Tricky walked towards her stoping at a respectful distance and Lori rubbed the small spiral between his eyes. He lowered his head in enjoyment and leaned his head against her palm and looked into her eyes.

"Come on, boy. I take you to your stall and get you your dinner." Lori said as she lead the way out of the two-Olympic-sized arena and over to the Show-horse barn, complex 23.

His stall was the fourth one down on the right side (the stallion and gelding side). Lori lead him to his stall and Tricky walked in, turned around and lifted his food bin up and over the side of the stall and into my out stretched arms.

"Thanks, boy. I'll be back in a moment with your dinner." she said as she walked over to the feed room.

When she arrived, Lori picked up a scoop and put two full scoops of oaten chaff in his bucket. Then she added all the minerals, medicine and additives he needs and sprayed it with water to stop everything flying up when he eats. As a treat she put half a carrot in for being s good boy.

Upon her arrival, Tricky nickered and pawed the ground.

"Stop that!" Lori said playfully "Otherwise you will have a patch where there's no bedding.''

He stopped and Lori placed the bucket at his hooves. Tricky looked at her with his ears shoved forward and his eyes boring into hers, a moment shared often between the two. Lori smiled and nodded, telling him he could eat.

Tricky put his head in the bucket and pulled out the carrot. He walked over to Lori and she flattened her palm for him to put it on. Tricky held one end in his mouth and crunched down, cracking the carrot in half. He ate the piece in his mouth and walked back to his dinner.

Lori looked at the carrot in her hand, "Why didn't he want this piece?" She thought to herself.

"Looks like someone's sharing his treats."

Lori looked over her shoulder at Victoria putting her Frisian mare Myra in the stall opposite Tricky's.

"Yeah" Lori said as she turned back to Tricky to watch him eat.

"Well, our dinners ready if you want to eat." Victoria said as she put Myra's

blue and gold lead rope back in it's place.

"Coming." Lori stated. She walked to the barn doors and turned back to see Tricky starring back at her. She smiled at him and he went back to his dinner.
