I gasped silently and felt Alex's hand grip my wrist protectively. "Hira, what the hell are you doing here?" Alex asked angrily.
Hira hummed. "I honestly think it's too stuffy in here. Too many people in one place, too many prying eyes. Let's take this conversation topside, huh?"
"We'd rather not." Evanora stated.
"You don't have a choice." Hira pointed behind her where two men were escorting Victor back to the streets. He cast a fearful look behind him before they roughly elbowed him in the side and he turned around. I sucked in a breath and Hira's eyes landed on me with a small smile.
"Let's go you three." She turned around and we had no choice but to follow after her.
"Alex, what are we going to-"
"I don't know." He cut me off. "I really don't know..."
The alley that she led us into was dark and cramped with one way in and out, but the two men from before blocked our exit, practically slinging Victor at us.
"God, you guys are really elusive, you know that? Dorian has been breathing down or necks about getting you four. It's getting really intense, you know."
We remained silent.
"You're really pissing him off. And in turn, it's pissing us off too."
"Good, I mean that's been our whole plan all along! Just run around New York rampant, staying mere inches away from Dorian's grasp. Playing around and pissing him off until we get tired and will just give ourselves up." Alex said sarcastically.
Hira narrowed her eyes at him. "You always were a smart ass Alex."
"It's good to know that there's some small sliver of the old you in there." He retorted with narrow eyes.
Hira stiffened. "You need to just come with us peacefully. Whatever you think Dorian is going to do to you, it can't be that bad."
"And whatever you think Dorian's going to do to us, it can't be that good." Victor sassed.
"Hira what happened to you? Whatever is going on, this can't be the right answer. You have no clue what he's doing to our kind!" Evanora pleaded.
"Oh, I have every clue. And I know what he's doing. But in a world with people like us, it's kill or be killed." Hira hissed.
"No it's not, Hira! The most important thing in life is your humanity! And you're losing yours!" I said.
"There was never any humanity to take in the first place." Hira stated coldly.
"How'd you even find us, if we're so elusive?" Victor asked with narrowed eyes.
"You all must forget that I lived in that house too. I know where Becca usually hangs out. Luckily, she wasn't here to pickup you guys today." Hira smirked before pointing at us. "Get them."
Suddenly, two grunts sounded from behind Hira. She turned around and her eyes widened when she saw that the two men who'd come with her were now laying unconscious on the ground.
She hissed angrily and whipped around at us. "Okay, first the fuck of all-" in a flash of sky blue, Becca appeared behind Hira and before she had time to do anything, Becca elbowed her in the face and Hira fell down with a groan.
"Let's go." Becca said suddenly. She grabbed Alex and Evanora's arms and I grabbed Victor, who had grabbed onto Alex. Hira shot onto her feet with an angered yell and reached out for us and before she could touch us, we were gone.
