Alex scratched his chin as he gazed up at the top of the fence. Thankfully, it wasn't electric, so that made things a little bit easier for us.
Just a little bit.
"Ready, Nora?" Alex asked holding out his hand for her.
"Not really." Evanora said, stepping up. Alex crouched down and cupped his hands so that she could step in them. She did and with one heave, Evanora was at the top of the fence. She winced when she climbed down and landed a bit too hard.
Alex's eyes widened. "Nora are you okay?" He asked. She nodded. "Stop babying me, Alex!" She huffed.
Alex smirked and chuckled a bit. Victor was next. He didn't need much help. He was a skilled climber all on his own. He scurried up the fence so fast, I was sure he'd used some sort of supernatural boost.
But he hadn't.
"Don't drop me." I stated as Alex got ready to help me up the fence.
"And get a free ticket to experiencing your wrath? No thanks." He said sarcastically. I hit him in the head with a scoff and he chuckled. He boosted me up and I launched myself over the fence, not even bothering to climb down.
Which I realized was stupid when I felt a sharp pain in my legs. I winced as I landed, but stood up quickly to cover it up.
It didn't take Alex long to get over the fence either. He seemed perfectly fine with jumping it in one go.
He jerked his head signaling us to follow him. And we did. We made sure to keep our eyes peeled for cameras. And there was a few, so we made sure to stay in their blind spots.
Victor pointed towards one warehouse towards the back. It was significantly smaller than the other, but it was on the outskirts of the property, meaning we didn't have to run far in case something happened. Alex nodded and we made our way inside.
The ground was concrete and littered with glass and stray pieces of trash. I swear I heard some rat squeaking too.
There was a tarp in the corner of the room neatly folded up as well as some giant spools. And the entire place was filled with crates.
Alex pulled out the tarp and I almost choked on the amount of sawdust that floated off of it. He laid out the tarp in the center of the building. "Okay, so this isn't the most ideal setting, but at least we're not out on the street." Alex shrugged.
I pulled my hood over my head and sat down crossed legged. "Better than nothing." I said with a small smile. Victor gave us one of his crooked grins and shifted into a wolf, curling up beside me. Evanora gave us all a soft smile and laid down, using Victor's furry pelt as a pillow. He simply huffed.
Alex took off his hoodie and balled it up to use as his own pillow. He laid down beside me and pulled me close. I smiled softly and closed my eyes.
This was how I wanted it to be for the rest of my life. Not the running for my life part. Just the relaxation part. The part where it was just me and my friends.
The part where it was just us against the world.
