She watched the boy hurry away after they made eye contact. She didn't know his name, but Star was sure he was the one who'd written her the note.

She smiled to herself; remembering his dark eyes, with sparks of white in the middle. She thought about the way his shoulder-length dreads bounced a little as he sped away, and how adorable and frightened his face had looked when he'd bumped into her.

I wonder what his name is, she thought as she walked to her next class: science. She made it to class just before the bell rang, and she sat in an empty seat in the back. Thankfully, this teacher didn't seem like she was going to introduce her to the entire class.

Their teacher, Mrs. Norset walked up to the front of the class to begin the lesson.

"Alright class, let's get this over with. As you know, you got assigned that group project yesterday."Group project?? Star thought. Shit!! "And you will be continuing it in class today.

"Now, I am aware that we have two new students today, so Mr. Reed, Ms. Wren, you two will be doing the project together."

Star looked over at the boy Mrs. Norset had pointed to. He had silvery hair with long bangs, but shaved sides, yellow-green eyes, tan, yellow toned skin, and an extremely nervous expression written plainly on his face.

"Hey," she said quietly as she walked over to the lab table he was sitting at. "I'm Star." She said, holding out her hand.

"Alex." He responded, shaking her hand a little too vigorously.

"So, do you have any idea what this project is about?" Star asked him. "I'd ask the teacher, but she kinda scares me." She said, looking over to where Mrs. Norset was viciously writing something down on a piece of paper; her poorly bleached blonde hair starting to fall into her face.

"Umm, sorta..." Alex began hesitantly. "My friend Cassie kind of explained it to me before class. She said that we're just making a poster about the interior of a plant of our choice."

"Alright!" Star said with a big smile. "Then let's get to work!"

Alex looked uncomfortably at the girl sitting across from him. She seemed nice, but he still wasn't very comfortable around new people. Cassie and Jackie were all he was willing to accept as friends; at least, for now.

Alex shot a look over at Cassie on the other side of the room, where she was working on her project with Nick Perry. He took that moment to study Nick. He had short, dark brown hair that seemed to be shaped perfectly, clear blue eyes, and fair skin.

There was also the matter of the glowing person-thing inside him.

"Hello? Anybody in there? Alex?" Star waved her hand in front of Alex's face.

"Yeah, sorry, I spaced out for a second."

Wren looked over at the table Cassie and Nick were sitting at, and looked back at Alex.

"You like her, don't you."

"What? No! I'm gay!"

"So you like HIM!"

"No! Of course not! I don't like anyone, and I never will again! Can we please just do the project?"

"Fine." Star said, with a disappointed look in her eyes. They were quiet for a few minutes before Alex spoke up.
