Na'vi

------------------------------------------------------

It had happened so fast, so very very fast.

Faho took a steady breath, fearing that if he made the slightest sign when inhaling the herd of hexapede would high-tail it right out of the clearing. He felt the intense gaze of his teachers, watching whether excitedly or nervously. He couldn't fail- not for them, his clan, his parents, himself and most importantly for his sister.

Within the arms of Eywa she would beam with pride as he made his first kill. That seemed to do the trick, the simple thought of Zuri's proud gaze gave Faho the courage to release the arrow from his bow, the yellow feather at the end grazed his cheek as it darted forward. The trio watched in anticipation as the arrow dislodged itself into the side of one of the older yeriks who cried out at the sudden pain to its abdomen. He did it. He did it! Faho could only stand still as the dawning realization that all those frustration filled days of failing to hit the center of the target paid off. "Faho, be quick!" Tsu'tey rose from his crouch with a steady hiss that brought the student out of his self-celebration. Quickly, Faho ran towards the now whimpering yerik that took to laying down on its unwounded side.

"What we take must be given back, Faho... to Eywa." Olivia had kneeled beside her student with a look of complete serenity, behind her was Tsu'tey who gave a curt nod a gesture that Faho was not yet done. Faho leant down to whisper a quick prayer- a normal tradition amongst the na'vi to thank the almighty mother for the opportunity of a meal and a swift jab to the area of the chest with his hunting knife. Olivia patted his shoulder before standing up with a proud smile. "You did good." Tsu'tey came forward to grab the back legs of the yerik while Faho grabbed the front, both shouldered the body till it sat comfortably enough so that the walk back wouldn't be excruciating.

One moment we were celebrating..

Faho whooped with a fist raised high in the air as the trio moved through the forest. Olivia couldn't help but join in, blame it on human habit- but when one celebrates those around follow after. It was contagious, so Olivia cheered along with him. Tsu'tey on the other hand could not shake off the feeling of foreign eyes upon his back, a sinking chill running over his skin.

...and the next, we were running for our lives.

Tsu'tey heard the faint snapping of fallen branches before the others did and when his eyes flickered to the side- it was to late. "Run-" The foliage beside them thundered as a large black figure crashed through with a growl. A thanator, massive in size let out a warning hiss when the warrior made a move to grab his bow. Faho had never seen the beast of the lands before and never did he want to. Olivia had quickly moved to stand before the younger of the three protectively, her ears flat against the braids on her head. "Go! Go!" Tsu'tey swiped his bow back and forth while hollering in a futile attempt to scare off the thanator but the beast merely hissed, it's crown of quills vibrating around its large head. Olivia had to think quick for the predators anger only seemed to increase each second they stood there. "Faho- Faho, listen to me. I need you to run- no- listen... When I count to three- you run and don't stop no matter what you hear. Understand?" The woman watched the emotions flash within her students eyes, discord, fear, hesitation- but it didn't matter how he felt at that moment because the lives of all three of them were on the line.

The thanator paced slowly forward, its large paws crushing the foliage beneath heavy pads of pure flesh tearing power. Olivia began the countdown under her breath, until the palulukan made a quick swipe towards the warrior who tripped over the forgotten yerik trying to evade the claws. "Three- Faho, go!" Faho took one hesitant glance at both his teachers, possibly for the last time before taking off into the forest. Olivia turned and grabbed a hold of Tsu'tey's upper arm who looked bewildered between her hand and her face. "Come warrior-"
