We rode in silence for at the most thirty minutes. "Do either one of you know why Jake is wanting me now, I mean after all this time?" I finally ask, trying to ease the tension and awkwardness. I still cannot see in the car because it's still dark and the only light source is coming from the car lights illuminating from the road.
"No, but I think he just found you because he was so happy when he told me that I needed to find his sister. He also fears that you may be in danger." Fredrick says, exhaustedly.
I turn my gaze towards Nicholas, as he keeps his focus on the road he says, "He told me the same thing." I took a sigh of relief that they both had the same story, in the first time in a long time I feel like I can finally trust people again. I have trusted Ted and Mitchell my whole life, but they are like family I never had friends; except one, but he betrayed me in Hell.
"I'm pretty sure that you, Fredrick, met Jake in Hell but what about Nicholas? How did you get tied up in all this?" I ask, trying to relax myself from the excitement of meeting an actual blood relative.
"Well actually, Violet, he took me out to dinner and it was so romantic..." Fredrick enlightens, poking his head between me and Nicholas.
"Shut up! I'm talking to Nicholas." I say irritated, but he smiles and leans back.
"Well, let's just say Jake is going to help me find the person who murdered my family." He takes a quick glance at me and see that I have question about what he means. "I was seven and my parents locked me in a closet..."
"Nicholas," I interrupt. "you don't have to if you don't want to." I warn.
"No, it's okay. I mean a therapist I used to go to said that I should talk about it. I mean it is better to talk about with somebody like you two because I won't sound crazy."
"What's a therapist?" Fredrick and I ask in unison.
"A person you go to when you have serious problems and you express your feelings to them." He explains.
"Sounding boring...and horrifying." Fredrick says in humor.
"It is at first, but it helped me make it through. But after they locked me in a closet they say that they were going to go get my little sister, she was five years old. I started to hear them scream and I tried to get out of the closet, but my parents had it sealed shut." Nicholas pauses for a moment. It must have been hard to sit in that closet and having to listen to his family being killed. "I did see a figure and they had a key tattoo on the side of their neck. I saw them doing some strange things and I didn't know what it was until I bumped into Jake while I was searching for the person. He explained everything, and he is going to help me as I am helping him."
"I'm sorry about your loved one. I understand how it feels to lose someone. When I was young I was told by my dad that my sister died." Fredricks says remorseful.
I just stare in the darkness not knowing what to say to either of them and I am not about to start talking about my life. "Let's lighten the mood and pray for the best in the future."
"Pray?" Nicholas and Fredrick question in unison and we then laugh.
As we drove in silence for a few minutes I can see bright lights begin to merge into our lane, "Nicholas?" I warn wary, but the lights begin to come faster towards us. "Watch out!" I yell, but it is too late. The car begins flipping and it is all dizzy, then darkness.
