While I told them what happened, chills went down my back. Alastor compelled me to kiss him and then he was protective over me against Beleth. I am more concerned with Jake and what Alastor meant by saying that I should use what Beleth did to me to help save myself. Then it snapped.
"That is why Beleth wants me!" I say loudly and stopped pacing. "I am their nuclear weapon; I can become a cold-blooded killer. I will be strong enought to take down Lucifer and God."
Fredrick and Nicholas, sitting on the couch, exchange looks. "We have to stay under the radar after we get your brother." Fredrick says sternly and Nicholas nods in agreement.
"Okay, I think that we should go back to the Academy and ask for help." I suggest. Fredrick doesn't seem to be thrilled to go there; mainly because they don't accept him for who he is. "It is the only way I can think of to get Jake back." Fredrick frowns and thinks for a moment and nods; he then heads upstairs to change his clothes.
"Hey here." Nicholas says behind me, as I wait in the living room for Fredrick to get ready changing, handing me his leather jacket.
"What is this for?" I ask, frowning, as I grab it.
"You haven't been outside yet and I'm pretty sure you have never felt cold weather." I nod and have forgotten that I am human now and I am about to experience weather. I put on the jacket and I can smell his scent just like before when I first met him.
"That's a good look for you." He says, smiling. I didn't say anything because I am too worried about Beleth. "What's wrong?"
"Just worried about my brother and being a cold-blooded killer." I respond.
"That is not going to happen. I promise." He says strongly.
"Why?" I ask, and he just frowns. "Why do you want to protect me?" I look at him and I begin to walk outside to the van sitting in the back. The cold breeze catches me off guard, but Nicholas's jacket keeps me warm.
He looks at me nervously and then takes a deep breath in and out. "I care about you. Just like you care for me and Fredrick." He keeps his focus on me; studying me. I begin to feel something but I don't know what it is; Nicholas leans towards me only inches apart from my lips and part of me wants to kiss him.
Fredrick then comes out wearing a long sleeve plaid shirt with jeans and boots. "Alright, let's get this show on the road." I slide father in the back of the van while Nicholas leans against the van, who has his eyes closed since Fredrick walked out. "Oh wait, was I interrupting something?"
"No." Nicholas and I say in unison.
"Great, let's go." He then says. Nicholas closes the door and I begin to blush until they both get in the front and I turn my face towards the window.
We stop to get fuel and snack, which I was surprised that we were in Nicholas's hometown, Kansas. I wait in the van while Fredrick handles the gas and Nicholas is inside to pay for the snack and drinks. I open the door and let my feet dangle outside the van and that is when I see Nicholas talking to three girls. Typical.
"It's weird." Fredrick suddenly comes out of nowhere, causing me to jump.
"Woah, don't scare me like that. And what's weird?"
"Lover boy, is talking to those girls but he doesn't want too." I look at Nicholas and see him smiling with them, but Fredrick is still a demon, so he might see the truth better than me. "Humans." He scoffs.
"No, he seems to be happy and being polite." I say turning my focus back to Fredrick.
"I can tell, why don't you go over and save him?" Fredrick asks, raising his eyebrow. "Come on, you don't want him to talk with those girls, especially with them flirting with him," He's partly right and I frown since it is party right. "And we need to get going." I sigh and exit the van.
