Pov: Evangeline
We roll our bags up to the taxi waiting to take us to Nathan and load our bags into the trunk. I tell the driver where to go and we start to drive.
When we get to his dorm room, Lisa looks at me nervously. I shake my head, roll my eyes and knock on the door.
There is a lot of scrambling and hollering before the door opens a crack and Nathan's curly haired roommate peeks out.
"Who goes there?" he asks in a frankly just plain weird voice.
"Ben, you asshole, it's my girlfriend and sister. Let them in or else!" my brother's voice calls from somewhere inside.
"Not quite yet, I have to question them first." Ben calls back playfully. "Now," he says, turning to us, "state your name, job, and why the fuçk your here."
I roll my eyes and push past him into my brother's dorm. Lisa follows and Ben comes in after us, rubbing his ribs where we elbowed him.
"Ouch, you ladies can really beat up a guy." he complains, completely over-reacting as he is about 7 inches taller than me and I'm 5' 8.5" so that's saying something. Also he's one of those guys who look like they spent all there high school years playing football.
Nathan walks into the room, smiles briefly at me before turning to look at Lisa. Some hello. No, I'm joking. I honestly don't mind. They're so cute that I don't know how I could.
Nathan's mouth hangs open just the tiniest bit as he stares at her, taking in her cinnamon skin and black hair as if he can't believe she's here. Almost immediately he walks over to her and kisses her hard.
I turn my head away because seeing them kiss, seeing them so happy makes me think of August. And yes, I know it's stupid but I can't help it. Everything makes me think of him; my town, the ocean, even that screaming lady at the airport. Everything.
Nathan and Lisa must have broken apart because I'm suddenly tackled to the ground.
"Nathan, get off of me!" I shout.
He laughs and says, "Not a chance, young Jedi." Yup. That's my brother all right.
"Nathan, if you don't get off of me now, I won't give you your date day tomorrow. In fact, I will literally glue myself to you so you are never without your sweet little sister."
He scrambles up quickly and scratches the back of his neck. "Um...so I still get date day, right?"
"Sure." I sigh. Nathan and I have a deal which makes it easy to try to go to New York tomorrow.
Once every vacation Lisa comes on, there is a date day. Date day is when Lisa and Nathan go on a date all day and I usually hang around the university library and cafés. Ha, not this time.
"Let's go to dinner. I'm hungry" Ben whines. I look at Nathan. He sighs and rolls his eyes at Ben.
"Yes Benny, I know your hungry but Nathan's got some work to do for his project or else he won't do well in life."
"Shut up." Ben growls at Nathan.
I look at Lisa and can tell we're thinking the same thing; boys *eye roll*
Nathan sits down to work on his oh-so-important project and I pull out my phone and check the traffic from here to the café I will go to tomorrow.
Not bad, less than two hours, I think I can survive.
...
"Nathan, now I'm getting hungry," I complain. It's been two hours since he started working on that God damn project and it is now 8.
"Lisa and I haven't had food since the plane lady gave us the trash airlines call lunch."
"Oh please," Nathan snorts, "You can live another hour without food."
"An hour?!"
"Yes, unless you'd like to cook for yourself."
Humph I heave out.
"Fine then, I'm ordering pizza!"
"You really hate cooking that much?" Ben asks in a mockingly shocked voice, "I thought, seeing as you literally have nothing else to do and no life at all, that you would be at least good at fuçking cooking."
I roll my eyes and sock him in the arm. Ever since I met Ben, it's like I have two highly annoying brothers combined into one, him.
"Maybe if you got a girlfriend, you wouldn't be so grumpy. But I suppose that's the reason no girl wants to date you, your so damn crabby." I tell him.
He put his hand over her heart in fake pain, "Ouch, sista, that hurt."
I turn to look at Lisa for help but she's nowhere to be seen. Speaking of which, where's Nathan? Oh no. The did not just...did they leave me with Ben?
Suddenly I hear a crash coming from Nathan's microscopic kitchen followed by a bit of cursing. I walk in slowly to see Nathan and Lisa standing there and two pans on the floor.
"What do you need pans for?" I ask when I am finally over my laughing fit.
"Seriously, if you wanted to be Rapunzel you could have just asked Cousin Rachael. She'd be happy to give you her costume as long as you promise to play princess with her!"He rolls his eyes and says , "Enough insulting my manliness, it's dinner time."
"Finally! What's for dinner?" I ask, heading for the door.
"Pizza" he replies, smirking at me.
