I just couldn’t sleep after I found out about the diary. I caged myself on top of the bookshelf while leaning to the wall and read it. It was all about her life and struggle being a witch. Although she was already dead, but it felt comforting to know the fact that she felt the same struggle as I did. I continued by flipping the page, but it went blank.
“What?” I frowned. I continued to flip the page back and forth, but that page was just blank. When I flipped it to the first page, it was all blank and I panicked. “No, no this can’t be!” I whispered to myself.
“Hi,” greeted Violin. So that was why the words were all gone. Any other people besides me wouldn’t be able to read it.
“What are you doing? I suggest that you go away for now, Rotring.”
“Rotring,” he repeated. “You can call me Violin.”
I shook my head, “Our relationship is professional, nothing more, nothing less. I am neither your friend nor your colleague. You are my captain, and I am your trainee. I suppose that’s clear.”
“Crystal,” he breathed heavily. He then stormed away from me. It was hard for me to admit, but I couldn’t care less. When I opened the book, every word came back. I opened the page where I left off. A fire ignited from the page. I gasped; I thought it was the fire that I made. Turned out, it actually came from the page. The fire crafted words that didn’t even burned the book. It glittered around the page while it danced through it
“Do not let anyone know this diary except you. Your friend could be your worst enemy.”
What was that supposed to mean? I glanced at Violin but he was too pissed to even care about the diamond that was in front of his eyes. I shifted my gaze to saw Lori. She was sharpening her knives. She caught my eyes as I quickly removed her from my sightline. Edelweiss was doing fine; she was still admiring the ‘bedroom’ apparently. I took a quick glance at Indigo although I hate to add him to the suspect list, but what else could I do? Well, as I thought, he wasn’t suspicious at all. Then who was behind this?
“Hey, what’s up fire girl?” Lori approached, “We’re going to leave this morning. We couldn’t be at the same spot.”
“True.”
“You ain’t packing up?” she nudged.
“Yeah, I will. Totally,” I replied shakily. I slowly slipped the diary to my back and threw it in the backpack noiselessly. “I uhh- I guess Violin just called you,” I lied.
“You got it,” she ran off.
I kept looking at the backpack each second to check if the diary was still there. As I expected, it was. I wore the backpack on and started to set the double doors open. The wind slapped me in the face the moment I open the doors. I continued to step outside to have some fresh air. But there was a high-pitched sound, and I turned my back. There was a blackout.
“Hey the lights were off,” I announced the obvious fact. The room was pitch black and I couldn’t hear or see anything. My breath got heavy each second as I couldn’t hear anything from them. “Indigo?”
“Elle?” he grabbed my hands.
“Oh thank God,” I sighed. He suddenly jolted and gripped my hands tighter. “Hang on!” someone was pulling him off while he yanked. His shoes screeched around the floor. I started to panic and dragged him even harder. The power was too strong and I couldn’t handle it. I lost his grip and he was gulped in the mouth of darkness. “Indigo? Is this is a prank? If it is, it's working, please stop!” I shouted in panic.
Someone covered my mouth; I kicked the ground and tried to reach the hand of that mysterious person. The person tried to choke me and I burned the hands. How’s that? I thought. That person held the scream back from escaping. I continued to crawl away but that person dragged my feet off. My nails screeched the floor.
“INDIGO!!” my voice squeaked through the room. It was the last thing I said before I got kidnapped
