Elle’s POV
I jolted up from my sleep—or faint, I couldn’t remember. My chest heaved up and down, trying to catch some breath. The air was stuffy and felt airless. I shook my head to find any sign of life, but everything was dark, really dark, too dark in fact.
“Indigo?” my voice echoed through the room; bouncing until it shouted back to my ears. Echoed. It meant that the room was empty. “What is this place?” I whispered to myself. I rose up from my sitting position and tried to walk around the room.
An obvious idea popped into my mind. It would be easier to see if I lit up my fire.
Flick,flick.
Nothing.
I couldn’t lit my fire! What kind of joke is this? I thought. But strangely, desperation hadn’t filled my mind, not yet. I swayed my hands to felt anything that was possibly in front of me. Then, I continued to walk. I did it in repeat, swayed, walked, swayed, and walked. There was nothing to found except the stuffy air that wrapped around the room.
A buzzing sound suddenly came out of the walkie-talkie that was in my jeans pocket. Oh, thank God!
“Indigo?” I started to speak. “Help!”
“Ellle?”
“Yes?”
“No! Elle stay with me!” he yelped. He didn’t seem to hear me. It got weird each time. I couldn’t lit my fire, the room was too dark, and now there was no signal.
I couldn’t help but sit and dragged both of my feet to be hugged. I rocked back and forth, anxiousness and boredom had filled my mind. I tried to picture things to let myself calm. I pictured a meadow with full of flowers that rowed, where there were people I care about. There were Indigo, My mom, Lori, Edelweiss, and Violin. Violin was kind of the least person I cared about, but he was a part of the ‘family’ too. We worked together through all of this with him.
A creak sound of a door suddenly crept through the room. I quickly got up from my seat in alarm and cautiousness. The light burst in the room until I cringed away from it.
There were two outlines of people. The first person pushed the other one to enter the room brutally. It was Edelweiss; her hands were laced-up and so did her feet. She sobbed and crawled herself to me without thinking. The door was still opened but I didn’t even have the courage to break free.
“Elle...,” she sobbed; half pointing to the person with her manicured finger. Her body was trembling in fear as her eyes locked into mine with horror. I shifted my gaze to see the outline of the person in front of the door. That person was tall—it could be Yvonne.
“Hello Elle,” the person walked towards the room; dragging her floral scent to be smelled. “How was your day?” her voice was high-pitched and full of French accent.
I squinted to focus my sight. Some part of me didn’t want to know who it was, despite the fact that she kidnapped me. My eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness of the room and figured a face out of it.
“How could you forget me?” she bitterly laughed. “I’m Lori Hearts; your dear friend.”
