I woke up the next morning, almost forgetting about the new ring on my finger. I smiled at it and walked down the hall to Minato's room. I peeked inside and he was still asleep. I smiled. His mission must've been canceled. I walked in and kissed his forehead.
I walked to the Hokage tower. I knocked and waited to go in.
"What was my mission, sir?" I asked. "Oh, well, you actually have a free two weeks. Minato planned to make fake meetings and missions for himself and you. No missions or meetings." The Hokage smiled. "Thank you, sir." I bowed. "You're dismissed." He said.
I got back to the house. I walked in and took my shoes off.
Rasuto was in the living room. "Hey." He said as he sipped some tea. "Hey." I replied. I sighed as I sat down for a few. "Screw it. I'm going for a walk. Let Minato know I'll be back eventually." I said to Rasuto as I stood up and left.
I got to my old house. There was still caution tape around it. I ignored it and walked inside.
There was still a small stain of blood where my parents died. I smiled softly, remembering the few good times I had with them. "Mom, Dad....I miss you....." I began awkwardly. I needed to tell them what was going on. Even though they weren't buried here, I felt like their 'spirit' was still here.
"I'm engaged......the boy who saved me from people who tried killing me is my man now. I'm so happy. I'm sorry that I wasn't a good daughter. I know I could've done better and I'm sorry, mom, that I let the secret out. I didn't see or talk to you much, dad, and I'm sorry. I just.....I just wish I could be better. I still have a scar left from the last impact, mom. It's not too visible but it's there." I said. I suddenly felt a warm feeling in my chest.
"I just wish I could've hugged you and I wanted to say 'I love you' one last time. I seriously miss you. Do...do you two accept my decision of Minato? I know you can watch everything that's happened and happening. Heh, I see you guys as if you were my guardian angels now." I said. "I'll be by your graves soon to talk more." I added as I left.
"Kushina!!" Minato's voice called as I made my way to the cemetery. "Oh, Minato. I thought you were sleeping." I said. "I was but I woke up a bit ago. Can I come along?" He asked. "Sure. I'm just going to pay my respects." I said. "To...." He began. "My parents." I said.
He had never seen me pay my respects or anything, I barely even talked about them. I wonder how this'll go.
We got to my parents grave. They were conveniently right next to each other. I stopped at my moms first. I got on one knee and began talking to her in my head. I looked up at the sky and smiled. I then realized that Minato was paying his respects elsewhere. I paid the respects to my parents and ran to Minato who had just finished.
"If you don't mind me asking, who were you paying your respects to?" I asked. "Well, I had another older brother. During a mission when he was younger, Rasu was about to get killed so Minato, who I was named after and was the sensei of the group, jumped in and was killed instead of Rasu. Rasu wanted to name me who I am now in respect. He said I look and act exactly like him." Minato said as we began walking back. "Minato. I'm...I'm so sorry." I said. "It's not your fault. Everyone gets a little curious. Now, want anything before we go home?" He asked. "I've been craving dango for hours." I said.
We went out for dango, which was our breakfast, and went home. Rasuto had a mission so he wasn't home and his parents were still asleep from getting back from a mission so late. "Kushina, follow me." Minato said. I followed him and we ended up in Rasu's room.
As we walked further into his room, things got interesting. On his shelves were books, folders, notebooks, a few kunai, and some shuriken. We walked to his closet where there were a TON of pictures on his dresser. A few of him and I, the three of us when Minato and I started dating, and of his parents. One stood out to me. "Hey, who's that?" I asked. I pointed to the picture of a tall muscular man who looked like Minato but had a little more tamed hair. "That's my older brother." Minato smiled. "Wow. You too do look almost exactly alike." I said as I studied him and then the picture, going back and forth. "This is the only picture he had of him." Minato said as he looked at the picture.
"It was taken three days before his death. He had just finished training with him and wanted a picture of the day. It was the first day Rasu won in a sparring match with him. Rasu always told me the story so I'd look up to him. Rasu doesn't know this but I look up to him like nobody else does." Minato said as he crossed his arms. "We should get out of here before we get caught." Minato laughed. "Ok." I said as we walked out together.
I never knew he had it rough. I mean, he never met his older brother, who he was named after. I would've been kind of sad that I was never able to meet the shinobi who I was named after. It'd be sad to never get to know them. "Ya know, it's kinda sad but cool. I sometimes feel like he's watching over me." Minato smiled. That kind of sounds like my situation.
I love this man and can't wait to spend eternity with him.
