Taurtis paced around the kitchen. This couldn't be happening, why was she coming? His grades were good, he hadn't gotten into any trouble, he didn't see a reason for her to visit. Maybe this was about the Dom thing. He explained the situation to them clearly and they seemed more than willing to take him.

"Taurtis? What's going on?" Taurtis paused to stare at Dom, who stood calmly in the entrance to the kitchen.

"I was just told that my mother's jet landed," Taurtis gestured to his phone, "She's making an unexpected visit."

"Oh, crap."

Taurtis nodded as he started pacing again, "I don't know why she's here, but she is and she's gonna want to see me and the dorm and probably you because I already mentioned everything to her."

Taurtis stopped pacing to find the other's gathered around as well, "But there's also one tiny bit of information I might have left out."

Dom motioned for him to continue. Taurtis took a shaky breath, "She doesn't know about any of this. That I'm dating four guys or that I even like guys."

"Shit."

Taurtis paced quicker this time, "I mean, can you blame me? They've always had the kind of love that only exists in fairytales. I mean, they're high school sweethearts for crying out loud. How was I ever supposed to pluck up enough courage to be like, 'Sorry to ruin the whole 'picture perfect' family thing we have going on here, but I'm gay!'"

Taurtis dropped to the floor, "I'm done for."

"Taurtis," Sam knelt near him, "to quote one of the best movies of all time, 'We're all in this together.'"

"Yeah. Come on. Get off the floor. I don't think she'd be happy to see you sitting there in despair," Dom helped him up.

"If things go awry, we've got your back," Grian smiled at him as there was a knock at the door.

Taurtis braced himself, casting a fleeting look at his boyfriends, who all gave him smiles and thumbs up, before opening the door.

"My Baby!" He was instantly enveloped in a tight hug, his mother's familiar rose perfume filling his lungs, calming him instantly. She pulled back to get a look at him, "How's my little knight?"

If someone had seen the two just out and about, they probably would've thought they were siblings. His mother always had this glow of youth that never seemed to fade. Her face was wrinkle free, except for her subtle smile lines. Her long raven hair fell around her like a cloak with a bounce of volume and her deep chocolate brown eyes had a certain glimmer of mischief like she always knew something that no one else did.

Taurtis smiled, "I'm good. How are things at home?"

"Oh, your father's been dealing with the Doritos and going through all the paperwork involved. Which reminds me-Oh? Hello there," She studied the four before turning back to Taurtis, "You got more roommates?"

"Yeah, about that. Can you guys give us a minute?"

"Yeah," they all nodded.

"Take all the time you need," Grian said as they all hurried off down the hall.

Taurtis lead his mother to sit on the couch. He didn't even know how to begin, but his mother was patient, waiting for him to speak.

"I swear I had imagined a much better way to tell you this, that also included dad and Jay, but uhh.. I guess no time like the present," Taurtis gulped, shutting his eyes as he forced himself to blurt out, "I'm gay."

He could feel his whole body grow tense, waiting for a yell or for something worse, but instead, he froze as she cupped his face.

"Oh honey," her voice was soft and gentle, "You don't have to be scared."
