Taurtis was an early bird in every sense, he didn't go to sleep too late and woke up with the sun every morning. He loved being able to get up in the morning, stretch, and walk out into the kitchen to brew some coffee. He enjoyed the peace an quiet of no one else being up. Back at home, it was mostly just his mother, little sister, and himself. His father was around, but he was keeping the business running smoothly. He did make sure to have time for them on birthdays and in the winter time. However, once Taurtis went off to Clover Prep and his sister went off to some all-girls school, they weren't at home much, meaning his parents went on more business trips, which further complicated all their schedules.
He rolled his shoulders as he pulled the coffee pot from the machine and pour it into his favorite mug. Dom had gotten him this mug for his 15th birthday after he broke his old mug. He remembered that he laughed so much when he first saw it that he almost drop it. It was a plain white mug with text written in script that simply said, "Let's Get Naked." It was so unlike Dom that he almost couldn't believe he picked it out. Dom's face had turned bright red and he punched his shoulder, saying that a thank you would be nice. Taurtis personally preferred this new mug to his old star wars themed mug.
He took a sip of his coffee, tiptoeing back to Grian's room. Quietly closing the door behind him, he walked back over to the bed, gently sitting down on the edge. Grian was still sound asleep, lightly snoring as a bit of drool was leaking out onto his pillow. He looked adorable as far as Taurtis was concerned. Taurtis set his mug on the side table and crawled back under the covers, wrapping his arms around Grian and snuggling closer to him. Grian rested his head on Taurtis chest, unbothered by the adjustment. Taurtis chuckled as he watched Grian sleep, though he looked back over to the nightstand longingly. He decided it wasn't worth disturbing Grian and/or possibly spilling coffee onto him, so he left it where it was.
He lazily ran his fingers through Grian's hair, twirling a strand around his finger. He seemed so peaceful, Taurtis began wondering what he was dreaming about. Was he dreaming about them? About his home? About something random? Taurtis had many other questions pertaining to Grian, but they could all wait for a later date. He wasn't sure how Grian would react to those questions and he didn't want to scare him away. Taurtis yawned, bringing up a hand to cover his mouth, shaking his head to rid himself of the sleep.
Grian frowned slightly, his mouth shut as he shifted more into Taurtis. He was starting to wake up. Taurtis could hear the others' doors opening and closing, clearly, they were all getting up as well. Taurtis was a little sad, he wanted to enjoy the peace just a little longer. He could hear murmurs from behind the door. He wondered how long it would take them to figure out what had happened last night. As if on cue, his phone buzzed. He had one new message from Dom, a simple, "Where are you?"
Taurtis texted back, "Take a wild guess."
Taurtis heard the murmurs again, this time accompanied by someone, Sam, jumping up and down before the others shushed him. Taurtis chuckled, curling Grian closer, waiting for the other to wake up. Grian stirred, one of his eyes opened slightly to get a look at the world. They fluttered open fully when the spotted Taurtis in front of him.
"Did you sleep well?" Taurtis pressed a kiss to his forehead.
Grian hummed in response, resting his face fully in Taurtis's chest, taking a deep breath, "I could get used to this."
Taurtis chuckled, "Good. It's an improvement."
Grian gave him a questioning look.
"Nothing," Taurtis mumbled into his hair. Grian looked up at him again and Taurtis couldn't help but lean down and steal a kiss. The first was quick, a simple peck, but Grian grabbed the sides of his face and brought him back into a much more heated kiss. Right as they were getting into it, a ringtone sounded through the room.
Grian groaned as he pulled away, his mother had the best timing, didn't she? He begrudgingly got off the bed and searched for his phone. He chooses to ignore the fact that Taurtis was stifling his laughter on the bed. He grabbed his phone from his backpack, "Hello?"
"Grian, what have we said about calling me?"
"Look, I'm sorry I forgot to call last night. I was busy doing something," Grian sat back down on the bed.
"Excuse me, I am not a something, I am a someone," Taurtis whispered, pretending to be hurt, "And I believe it was I who was busy doing you."
Grian held up a finger to his mouth, trying not to giggle at Taurtis.
"That is no excuse young man! I worry every time you fail to call me. What if something happens to you and I just think that you've forgotten again? Don't make this a habit."
"I won't, Mom. I'm just busy with school stuff."
Taurtis held up his hands, making quotation marks as he mouthed, "school stuff."
"Just remember, Grian. Once upon a time, I was in high school, I know what happens in high school. I just want you to be safe, and for the love of god, don't get a girl pregnant!"
Grian resisted the urge to laugh, "Mom, trust me, that is the least of your concerns."
"STDs are a very real thing, you know. Even if you don't think you need to slip on a glove, you still should!"
"Mom, I'm not having this conversation with you," Grian put his head in his hand. He jumped when he felt Taurtis wrap his arms around him, kissing a few lazy kisses on his neck.
"You don't have to be embarrassed, I'm just trying to-" "Mom, I have to go, class starts soon and I have to get ready."
"Okay, have a good day. Love you," He could tell his mom wanted to talk more, but he really didn't have time.
"Love you too. Bye," He hung up, tossing his phone onto the bed as he sighed.
"You okay?" Taurtis asked, lifting his head off of Grian's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine, but we should start getting ready."
"Okay, I'll see you out there," Taurtis gave him a quick kiss before he stood up, grabbing his coffee cup and exited the room.
Grian took a moment to savor the bitter taste of Taurtis's lips before glancing around the room at the scattered close. His eyes settled in on Taurtis's headphones, he guessed he forgot to put them on this morning. He picked them up to put them next to his bag so he wouldn't forget to give them to Taurtis. His eyes drifted to the inside of the headband, where a message was engraved into it, "To my little knight, never forget who you are. A.L.J."
