I flopped down on my bed, already exhausted from this morning. It was tiring to keep up this character. I was already half asleep, but I couldn't fall asleep. I didn't want to go back to sleep. I just layed on my bed for what seemed like an eternity, until I heard a noise from my windowsill. I quickly looked up and saw a potted plant on my windowsill. It looked almost dead, just a hint of green remaining, I looked at it for a moment before it moved and made the same noise. I got up from my bed and walked over to investigate. I slowly came up to the plant to see red and silver lizard was walking around in the dirt in the pot.

"Hey there, little guy. Are you hungry?" The lizard looked me in the eyes with his strange, scaley head. Maybe he can understand me. "Do you want something to eat?" The creature just stared at me, but I thought his head gave a small nod. "Ok, let me see what I can find." I started to walk out, then I turned around because I had an idea.

I walked back over towards the plant. I was going to try to Summon some life into the plant. I rubbed my hands together, trying to get myself mentally prepared to Summon. "Stand back little guy, this might get weird." The little lizard just stared back at me with the same eyes. I held my hands out and concentrated on the plant. I didn't know how to Summon, so I just imagined the plant coming to life. I tried to will it to live, even though I wasn't sure how to do so. I stood there with my arms extended straight out towards the plant, my palms facing the plant. I stood there straining my arms for a few moments until I let my arms fall to the side.

"I'm sorry little buddy, I don't think I can do it." I extended hand so that the lizard could sniff my hand. To my surprise, he decided to run onto my hand and up my arm. I was a little startled, but still calm because I didn't want to hurt it. It stopped on my shoulder and nuzzled its head into my neck. "Aw, you're so sweet. I think you need a name. How about Bartholomew?" The lizard gave what sounded like a scoff. "No? How about Justine?" Another scoff. "Hailee?" This time the lizard gave a little noise, similar to a purr. Or as similar a lizard can get. "Alright, Hailee it is. I guess you're a girl, then?" She ran back down my arm and into the palm of my hand. I pet her head with two of my fingers. "I think we're gonna be good friends, Hailee." Just in my peripheral vision, I noticed something change. I focused my attention back on the potted plant that was now vibrant and green. Hailee's eyes lit up and jumped from my hand into the plant again. She started gnawing on the leaves that sprouted from the pot. "Huh, I guess I can do something."

I knelt down so that I was eye level to the plant and Hailee. "Well I'm glad one of us is feeling good. Come on, let me introduce you to my friends." I held my hand out, and Hailee took another bite before hopping on my hand and run up my arm, perching on my shoulder. "You're a sweetheart, aren't you?" Hailee just sat on my shoulder, perched and waiting to go.

I walked out of my room and heard a commotion come from the kitchen.

"Oh, you have such a sad life, don't you? You want our sympathy? Just a bit of love." There was a clang of metal, presumably a pan of some sort.

"I want you to keep off my damn back! This is my city, and I'll do what I please!" Another clang, but this sounded more like a slash. Nocturnus must have taken out his scythe and started swinging.

"Where were you? Were you selling us out? Trying to score some quick cash from Kristy?" I rushed down the stairs to see Nocturnus pinned against a wall with his scythe in hand, but Bruce kept that arm under control by holding it in place.

"What does it matter? We're all gonna die, but why would I ever want to help Kristy? If I'm gonna die, I might as well die with some dignity." Nocturnus said, slightly choking. "Now can you let your forearm off of my trachea?"

"What is going on here!?!" I screamed. I needed to end this as soon as possible. I could feel my new lizard friend shrink back in fear.

"Nocturnus was out last night, selling us out to Kristy!" Yelled Bruce. "We shouldn't trust him, I knew that there was something off about him."
