Watching Life cry became unbearable. She was beginning to lose purpose as her creations stole from her often. She could not figure out how to stop it, and she was not happy. No matter what I did for her, I could not bring back the smile she so lovingly gave me every day before this had begun.

"I want you to hold me." She sobbed to me. "I want you to hold me and make it stop."

"I tried to prevent it for as long as I could. I am sorry, my love." I apologized. "I cannot touch you, you know this. That does not mean that I do not want to hold you. I do. Ever so badly."

"If I am no longer of any use, what is the purpose of my existence?" She questioned.

"I believe you are here for me?" I said quietly.

"But you cannot touch me, or hold me. What is my purpose if I cannot even touch the one thing I exist for now?"

"You do not need to touch me." Her existence alone made me happy, but it pained me to see that I could not do the same for her.

Everything changed when a few humans left the planet. Parts of life began to fade from the planet, without my aid, until it no longer existed again. Life finally came down from the sky and set foot upon my land again. It warmed me, and sent rifts through the earth.

Life was attempting to give herself in to the earth. Yet, I knew that my land could no longer accept something as powerful and whole as her. I confronted her.

"Stop. You will destroy my earth." I called out.

"It is already destroyed. There is nothing left here. My creations no longer need us. Time has long been passed as their capabilities. I no longer exist for them, and neither do you." She gave me a pained look of desperation.

"That is my point. There is nothing you can do now. Everything is now mine again. As it should be. You will destroy whatever is left if you try harder." I set my foot down. As much as I love her, I could not let her destroy what has been my home for so long.
