Chapter 10: Explaining the Situation

There was a long silence around the atmosphere. It felt like hours we just stood there: shocked in every point of views. Marcus was staring right back and I was looking back at him. Anya was in the middle of us, wide eyed with shock. The trio were behind me, looking puzzled and confused.

“I...I can explain,” I spoke.

“How Can you explain if we don’t even know who’s the real Marcus?” Trott uttered out. Then, I saw my brother put his hand up.

“I’m the real one,” He sighed. I sighed as well. Eventually, I slip my identical wig off, revealing my real, long hair flowing.

“And I’m not,” I said with my normal feminine voice. A weak smile formed in my face. And all of them were staring more astonished at me. Each of them had the same facial expression: shocked, confused and awkward. Marcus on the other hand, looked quite stressed and guilty. But why was he?

The first that spoke again was Anya, who said: “So the real one’s not the one who has been at Starbucks with me?”

“No actually... real Marcus had been with you at Starbucks,” Marcus corrected; pointing at me next. “She’s been taking my place for the past 2 weeks...”

“You’re not serious!?” The trio simultaneously exclaimed and I feel my heart go giddy at their over exaggeration.

“No: his not kidding.” I chuckled. “I took my brother’s place at work because he had a promotion somewhere else. Just never knew that he would come here quite earlier than I’ve expected.”

Smith started off, “So you’re saying: we’ve been spending manly time with a lady?” Then Ross nudged him.

“Hey... that’s rude.” Ross spoke and I laugh slightly. I caught a glance back at Smith: who was smiling at me.

Anya had turned to me and said, “You might be a girl. However, you have very impressive acting as Marcus here.” All of us had a laugh and I paused and fully explained the truth.

Taking a deep breath, there I completed my speech. “Me and Marcus are twins, and he had this promotion that he did not want to decline so he urged me to take his new editor place at this company. So with the help of my friends, I turned into him and became the real him...”

“Sounds legit,” Trott shrugged and the other two Hatfilms nodded.

“You seem pretty close siblings as well,” Smith pointed out and I felt Marcus give me an embrace. We both looked at each other and hugged.

“Hey, thank you Steph,” He muffled during our little brother and sister moment. Stopping at hugging, I punched his arm playfully and smirked.

“And I know why you took this job...” I spoke.

He paused and questioned, “What then?”

Laughing, I took my phone out and looked at my contacts to point out at one previous call: Aria. “Aria knew that you can’t edit videos and told me you took this job because it was the only one.”

“Wait, wait, wait.” Smith stopped in our conversation and looked at Marcus. “So you can’t edit stuff. But she can?”

“I took editing as a degree...” I shrugged and it felt as if everything was fine. After a little more on talking, I let Marcus and Anya have a talk in one room and the four of us headed back to the original room I’ve adapted to. I wonder if I would ever edit again. Would I even keep the job? There was tension around us as we piled onto the sofa and Trott sitting onto his normal spinny chair in front of us. Now it was serious... there were no chances left for me.

Trott spoke, “Okay Marcus not really Marcus...”

“It’s Stephanie,” I interrupted and Trott said whatever back.

“Okay Stephanie, we’re here to say that you can keep you job as editor...”

“Really?!” I jumped happily, adrenaline pacing around my body. “I mean... I can still come at the office? Actually work here?!”

“Yeah... at least Lewis knows...” I pause at Smiths statement after a tackle for a hug to both Ross and him.

I whispered, “Thank you.” Moving away, I wipe my eyes and spoke. “When I came here: I’ve learnt so much how you guys care about each other. And playing for games at a living, it looks like it’s a higher level of having an awesome relationship in a brotherly way.” I wasn’t sure if they were accepting me how emotional I am or they got awkward out. But eventually, I saw their smiling appearing on our faces.

After, we soon talked about what will happen next, such as living arrangements. It was until when we heard a familiar faint voice coming from the hallway. It was Simon, and they were back from America.

Getting up, Ross firstly exited the room; with Trott trotting behind him. (A/N DID YOU GET THAT PUN?!!!) It was my turn to exit but I felt someone grasping my wrist tightly, forcing me back and turn around. I looked back to Smith smiling back at me; giving me the confidence to grin back.

“Hey, remember what Trott said 2 days ago?” He started.

Raising an eyebrow, I followed along and said: “Yeah, I remembered. What about it?”

Smith sighed and explained his incoming speech, “I know Trott was joking we could be a thing. But somehow I know that we start all over again? I just don’t want to be distant like yesterday.” Before I could say anything, I gave him a quick hug as a reassurance.

“It’s alright, but you know now: that I’m a girl.” We both chuckled at my little joke; stopping before there were no more jokes getting started.

“But yeah mate... I mean Stephanie,” Smith answered. “Thanks,” At that moment, we ignored our little conversation. The whole group were back at one piece: and everything was going well.

The whole of the time I’ve been here, I‘ve learnt many lessons. Some were still stupid to even remember; some were not important and mostly was how to live as part of family. And I’ve known how to be a part of the Yogscast; let’s not forget me learning to be a boy though!

But even if being the editor, it was an experience.

It was starting a new; different life ahead...
