Infinitely complex layers of information spread out in a vast and endless panorama. Images and sounds, lists and formulae, jumbled together in such vast quantities that it was impossible to wrap the mind around them, all rushing together with the force and chaos of a river at flood level that has broken its dam. For each snatch of information that would consciously surface only to vanish again, volumes would subconsciously pour out like cement – as unsubstantial as molten glass. It was like falling into a pit full of stones while simultaneously they fell into you. At the same time, millions of decisions were being demanded between equal rights or equal wrongs, and – somehow more terrible still – between possibilities and not facts.
In a world of cold logic and hard emotion, the endless potential of imagination forced the seed of data to blossom into the unknown.

Slowly, it abated. Isabel realized that she was the one lost in this barren waste of technology and hers was the imagination that stood out in it as stark as a solitary tree. For the first time, the endless maelstrom of information became absolutely overwhelming, all the more so since she knew that she was inexorably required to comprehend and arbitrate it all. She mentally shrank away in horror.
And then it ended.
