"Mom!"

"Sophie, dear. How was school?"

I wanted to say 'easy' and 'scary' at the same time, so I said:

"Seasry!"

"Pardon me?"

"Easy and scary! Seasry!"

"Oooooookay."

"No!" I screamed. "I DON'T WANNA GO TO SCHOOL!"

"Oh, but you must!"

"DAD! I DON'T WANNA GO TO SCHOOL!!!"

"Why, are the big kids giving you a hard time?"

"THEY'RE GIVING ME A REALLY REALLY BAD TIME!"Sophie screamed.

"Shush, you're going to wake the baby."

In response, I began to cry.

In response to that Amy began to cry.

My mother rushed to Amy's room as my father tried to calm me. No use. I would not be going ot that school again.

It was only until later that night before I went to bed, that my parents dared to ask me again about that day.

I told them that the work was wonderfully and gloriously harder but also of the nightmarish cafeteria. I had tried to hide in the library, but the librarian screamed when she saw me amongst the shelves and sent me to the office.

My parents looked sympathetic and patted me on the head, and I thought they's let me go back to my old school but all they said was, "It will get better. Give it some time," and turned the lights off.

I scowled and clutched Ella tighter.
