Chapter 9

     The past week has been amazing. Jazmin is a really good girlfriend from what I see. She's consistently checking up on me and making sure I'm good. Shit, if she keeps the shit up I might have to slide a ring up on that left finger. She supposed to be spending the weekend with me and I'm honestly excited. Today is Janessa's release party for her Queer Radiance line. Of course, Jazmin is my date to that but Brian is going by himself. Something about him and Warren being in an argument or something. I'm sure that they'll be fine though and if they aren't I'll fight BOTH of them. It wasn't meant to be a big ass party but when I pulled up there were cars everywhere. "Dang where are we supposed to park?" Jazmin said looking at all the cars. "I don't even know," I said and then a man ran up to my car. He had on a suit and a name tag that said "valet." "Are you Kayla Ramsey and Jazmin Adams?" He asked. "Uhhh. Yea," Jazmin said. "Ok. I am the valet for Janessa's party. I can take your car if you'd like," he said. "Ummm sure," I was kinda suspicious but I just went with it. He helped Jazmin out the car and I tossed him the keys. "We'll see if I have a car to drive home when this is done I guess," I joked and she laughed.

     We walked in and her house looked totally different. It was like I had never been in there before. "Woah," Jazmin said looking around. There were a shit ton of people. Some of which I recognized from work, others who I had seen from the industry, and then those who I've never seen before. I did pick out on familiar face though and led Jazmin over there. "Kayla, hi!" She smiled and hugged me. "Hey, Janessa. This is," she cut me off. "Jazmin. I know. She talks about you...a lot," she smiled extending her hand. "Really now?" Jazmin said looking and me and grabbing her hand. "Yes she does but it's nice to finally meet you," they shook hands before someone called Janessa to them. "Ok well enjoy yourselves I'll see you guys later," she walked over to a group of people and disappeared in the crowd. We walked around and I noticed some people from my department and Jazmin and I went to go talk to some of them. I got a call from Warren and was confused. I answered and walked to an empty bedroom. "Hey?" I asked kinda confused as to why he was calling. "Hey. Yea...um have you heard from Brian?" he asked sounding nervous. "No. Why do you ask? Is everything alright?" I started getting concerned. "Kinda sorta. So you know we were having an argument and I left because he was upset and didn't want me around. I wanted to apologize cause I haven't seen him all week and I miss him. But it went really wrong and I punched a wall to keep from hitting him and he's been gone all day. He won't answer my calls, I've been blowing up his phone, everything and he still won't talk to me. I know y'all were going to that party thing today so have you seen him?" He asked.

     I was kinda happy because you could tell that he really cared about my best friend. But also upset because I know that Brian doesn't handle physical hostility well either. His family was very abusive towards each other but he's supposed to be going to get help so he can handle those situations better. "I haven't seen him but I will call if you want me too," I said. "Ok! Please do. And tell him," he pause as if unsure what to say next. "Tell him I love him," he said before quickly hanging up. I couldn't even assure him that I was before he did either. I scrolled through my contact list and found Brian's contact. It rang a couple times before he picked up. "Hey. I'm down the street now whats up?" He said. "Ummm it's cool I'll just wait till you get here. Just text me when you do and I'll come find you," I said and he agreed before hanging up the phone. "Is everything alright?" I heard and the voice scared me. It was Janessa though. "Jesus Christ. How long have you been standing there?" I asked holding my chest. "I just walked in. Why are you in my room?" She laughed. "Oh. I just had to make a call I didn't know this was your room," I said. "I'll leave though," I said and she sat down on her bed. "No, sit. Let's have a chat," she said patting her bed. "Do I have a choice?" I asked walking over to her. "Of course but if you don't I will feel a way," she said joking. "And we can't have that can we?" I sat next to her. "Ehh it's whatever. But Jazmin? Girlfriend?" She asked and I nodded. "It's been a week but it's also been the best week of my life when it's come to being in a relationship," I said and she laughed.
