Aisling slept in the alley that night , with her head resting on Hilda ,and her shawl wrapped tightly around her. She dreamt of escape and freedom. Escaping to a new world where she had a home and family and food on the table . Freedom from the shackles of poverty and loneliness.
When she awoke she felt a pang of disappointment as she realised that her real life hadn't made such miraculous progress (Even if it had in her dream).
Aisling didn't want it to remain a dream. She wanted it to become a reality. A reality that she was a part of. A reality that would continue until the day she died.
But Aisling knew that this reality would not come easily. She was going to have to work for it. And work she would do. She would do almost anything for a roof over her head and a well-fed family.
