Waking up just to sleep

You open your eyes. No clue how many hours passed. You go to get up. A stinging pain surging through your back. "Don't move," Oracle sighs. You give a nod. Falling back into the bed. More comfortable then your own. You felt like you lay in a cloud. Maybe you're in heaven. Maybe. You died.

"Where am I?" You softly spoke.

"Our house." Smith chuckles.

"Why am I here?" You wince, going to get up once more.

"So you can get better." Oracle smiles.

"Why let me get better?"

"Because it's apart of your destiny,"

"Really?"

"No, Destinies is a bunch of bull. More or less it's one of the many possible paths in your future. As my only job is to try and let you go down the best one. You're special."

"By special you mean Powerless. A dud."

"You're more then that."

"Thank you, guys."

"Ma'am," smith corrects. "Use she her, for both of us, not they and them as you are so very use to using."

"And, we're married, not only business partners." Oracle adds. You knew they weren't from here. But you didn't know what outside the village is like. You didn't know what these strange new customs are. Why would they use such strange pronouns. You just shook your head at it.

"My name, not my title but name, is Luna," Oracle smiles. "Smith's name is, Ember."

"We're going to get you food, in a bit, sweetheart." Ember smiles ruffling your hair. You smile back. Feeling welcomed. The first time you felt like this for as long as you can remember.

Someone knocks on the door. "Hand over The Powerless," the person demands. A whimper leaves your mouth. Ember looks at Luna. They exchange familiar looks. A entire conversation without a single word. Ember picks you up. You try not to scream as your back hurts from the sudden movement. Your flesh having had no time to heal. Ember walks away from the door. Oracle already five steps ahead. Every foot step left tiny embers on the floor. Soon those embers grew. Changed. Creating fires in her wake was what Ember did best. Her magic. Her ability was Flame Summon. She could create flames out of nothing. And. She was using the flames to burn down their house.

The couple fled. You in Embers arm. Tears streaming down your face. A river forming. "I told you we should have taken them there in the first place." Ember spoke.

"I didn't foresee them coming so soon." Luna states. Y'all weren't on any path. A few branches hit your face. You held onto Ember for dear life.

Soon you got to another hut. With a grand contraption in the middle. Luna presses a button. Everyone collects onto a small copper raise in the dirt ground. Steam hisses from the mechanism which covers all corners of the room. Electricity collects around two orbs which you were in the middle of. The electricity then tries to get to the other orb. Hitting the people on the pedestal while it was at it. You wanted to scream. But a soft hand. Unknown to working. Covers your mouth. A cloud of steam swirls around the group. When it disappears, you were in another room.

Someplace unfamiliar to you. Someplace new. The floor was like grass but. Fluffy. More shaggy. And white. It was also really short. Maybe it's white moss. The walls were solid and grey. The roof over your head was white. There was more doors then what you're use to seeing.

"Rest," Oracle softly spoke. "You'll need it. You'll have a grand adventure ahead of you." You nod. Nodding off at her words.
