Knocking is heard on the door, you would expect it to be normal, except, you weren't expecting guest. You were going to go open the door. To go see the next person to join your rag tag crew.
That was till Luna grabs your shoulder and pushes you to Ember. "Grab the kids and go, I'll keep them at bay," she states. Ember nods scooping you up.
"Your back is still healing, so you're not going to be running," she states. You remember how you got your scars. Every time the knife dove down and tore into your flesh.
"What happened to your back?" Cathy asks.
"I don't like to talk about it," you mutter.
"I'm taking its an old fairy ritual gone wrong," the mystery man says.
"Yeah that's correct," you smile,
"never been to fond of rituals of any sorts, usually causes harm." Cathy pouts.
In due time, you find yourselves in a room. A small white room. With a door that you never were to notice. There is two chairs and a bed. Along with a small basket filled with an assortment of food. Usually small snacks like peaches, string cheese, and chocolate bars.
"Ok, guys, stay quiet. Don't speak above a whisper. Don't come out of the room till either me or Luna gets you. If our unwanted guest come in. Don't fight back. They'll want The Powerless, let them take them. We can't have y'all getting hurt." Ember states. "If Powerless gets taken, open up these,"
Ember sets you on the bed. Giving Cathy and the man yet to be named a gift. Ember heads back down to her wife.
You look at the unnamed man. "What's your name?" You ask.
"Bayou Jones." He states. Taking a water bottle. Dumping out the contents. "Wanna hear a story?"
"Yeah, it'll pass the time!" She smiles.
Bayou gives a small smile. His hands held out as he snaps. The water starting to float. To change forms. There's a litter patter coming from the small puddle. A music like tone.
"In an old world, I was thrown onto the streets. The streets of my old country. A demon found me. At the time I lay weary. At the time I lay near death. He took out a hand and gave me a smile. A smile I of course could never expect. 'Now young man, what's your name?' He asks. Now of course I didn't have a name. I've been bouncing from house to house for quite some time. So I gave a shrug, a shake of the head. My parents only made to sell, and for quite some time I've been a slave with a number, not a name. He nods and picked me up. 'I'll take you in, I'll give you a home,' he smiles to me. Like a fool I took it. Yet, I was no fool to take. I was free as a bird. Free at last. With a name he had dealt. Bayou. A name of water. A name of wonder. A name of witchcraft. After a few months I've been well taken care of. Well fed. Well watered. I was lively and happy. My friend. My dad. He came to me again and smiles. 'Wanna join my gang?' He asked and I nodded. Now that was the biggest mistake that I've done. But he cared for me and new me well, so why not join a gang with a demon? Of course the consequences never crossed my mind. He smiles once more to ask me another. 'Now there's a favor I'd like you to do,' of course I took on the favor and I took on it well. Yet. That was the last time I saw Mr. Minx. And that's the last time we shared a drink-"
The door got knocked down in the middle of the story. Yet Ember nor Luna were behind it. Several people. All with plastic cat masks. All black cats. They wore a black jacket and jeans. Except for one who wore white. They most likely didn't get the memo.
As the door got knocked down. A note fell in your hands. "The Powerless, hand him over." The one in white demands. They did get the memo. They were in fact the leader of these moggies.
You pocket the note. Getting up and walking towards the cats. You were picked up by a black cat. Bayou and Cathy opening up their gifts. You might not know what they had gotten and you might never will.
Luna and Ember lay unconscious and beaten up. Blood covered them. Not to much that they'll die of blood loss. They held hands.
That might be the last sight you see as you get knocked unconscious. No Dream this time.
