I went back home. The instant I parked in our driveway, Daichi was out of the house. I slowly stepped out of my car. The moment I shut the door, Daichi hugged me. He always liked hugs. I didn't, so I pushed him away. Daichi held me by the shoulders before I could escape. Worry filled his eyes.
"Where the hell were you, Michi? You just ditch school, and then don't answer you're phone? What's going on?" He yelled.
"I need a new phone," I said, pushing away his hands. I went inside. I dropped my backpack on the floor. I walked to my room. Daichi followed. He sat at the edge of my bed.
"What's going on, Michi? Talk to me." Daichi looked at me. He always got what he wanted.
"I'm tired, Daichi," I said, turned around.
"No, Michi. This isn't okay. Is this about Hisato because if so I will find that asshole."
"Fucking Hisato! I'm so tired of hearing about him! Stupid Sasuke and his stupid tricks."
"What does this have to do with Sasuke?" Daichi asked. I grimanced. He wasn't supposed to find out. I was quiet. Daichi stood up. He mumbled, "I have to make a call."
I shot up. I ran up to him. "Daichi, who are you calling?! You better not do anything to Sasuke. You idiot. You're going to make it worse. I don't want him to think I care about him?"
I pulled Daichi's phone from his hands. I looked at it. The phone called Naruto.
"I was going to tell Naruto and everyone else to stop looking for you," Daich said, quietly. "You want to tell me what this Sasuke deal is about?"
"You made them look for me?!" I said.
"I didn't make them, Michi. They were worried about you."
"Don't be lame. Why would they waste their time worrying about me?"
Daichi ignored me. "Why would you be caring about Sasuke? I thought you were upset about Hisato?"
I let his phone fall to my side. "I am. Hisato's not real. Sauske is Hisato, Daichi."
Daichi was quiet. He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Sasuke's an asshole and a liar. I never want to think about Hisato or that stupid app ever again," I said, my voice falling apart.
"Oh, Michi," He whispered. A sad smile on his lips. He pulled me into a hug. This time I let him.
Suddenly, a voice called from Daichi's phone. "Holy shit! Michi you're the girl who Sasuke was texting!"
We both looked down at his phone. Naruto listened to everything we said. I groaned. Naruto knew everything. Naruto who was Sasuke's best friend. I sighed. Daichi spoke first.
"Naruto, we didn't know you were on the phone," Daichi said, laughing a little.
"You called me!"
"I know. I was going to tell you that Michi is home now, but I suppose you already know."
I spoke this time. "Naruto, don't say anything to Sasuke. It doesn't mean anything to me. It's just a lame app."
"Okay, whatever you say Michi!" Naruto said.
I looked at Daichi. I walked away. I really was tired. I meant it when I said I never wanted to think about the incident againt. That didn't last though. It was impossible not to thing about it. Especially not when I went to school. The next morning I thought about ditching again. Daichi was still alseep, and I would be able to leave without him noticing. But I didn't. I sat in my kitchen and read for hours.
I was reluctant to go to school because Sauske would be there. He was friends with all of Daichi's friends. We had classes together. Naruto knew about it, and I knew he would be an idiot about it. I didn't want to deal with it. As we got ready to leave, Daichi saw my dismay because he said something pretty clever.
"If you really don't care about it, then forget about it. You're Michi Harada. You don't give a shit about anything," He said jokingly, but it was true. I usually didn't let things get to me. This should have been another one.
So we drove to school. We went to our first class as usual. It was a little early, so Daichi and I waited in our classroom. I read a book while Daichi made small talk with the teacher. He was such a people person. Then, Naruto's friends walked in. Of course, they all walked over.
"Where were you yesterday?" Sakura asked. If I payed attention, I would say she was kinda worried. I looked up just to see Sasuke and Shikamaru walk out of the classroom.
"Yeah, we thought Daichi was gonna hack into the goverment system just to find you?" Sai said. I deadpanned. Daichi didn't know the first thing about hacking.
"How was that going to help him find Michi?" Ino asked. Then, they started aguring. I stop listening. Daichi glanced at me as he talked to Sakura. I kept reading.
For the rest of the day, Sasuke found a way to keep himself away from my area. I was thankful for that. I hated to admit I missed Hisato. He genuinely made me happy and it was a long time since that happened. I tried not to be uspet. It came easily. No one noticed that I felt down. No one ever did. It wasn't surprising. Daichi was the only one who ever knew. At least, that's how it always was.
When lunch came, I expected to see Sasuke. He always sat with the rest of them. When Daichi and I arrived to the table, Sauske was no where in sight. That wasn't the only thing that was surprising. Naruto watched me as I scanned the area for Sasuke.
"Sauske's with Suigetsu," Naruto said, pouting. I rolled my eyes. Like I cared. Naruto said, "Sasuke's been acting pretty weird. I mean besides his usual antisocial self; he's been super pissed for no reason."
I watched Naruto. I chuckled. "Naruto, Sasuke doesn't care about me. He cared about Chi. She's not real. Neither is our relationship."
"Don't be like that Michi! I think Sasuke and you have a chance!"
"I don't want us to have a chance," I said.
In that moment, I was so sure I never wanted to see Sasuke again. Now, I can't imagine a day without him. Things rapidly changed after that though. My life went from rarley seeing Sasuke at all to looking forward to the time we spent together.
