Mia found herself sitting on the cold tile of her bathroom floor again. Her head in the palm of her hands and pulling in the roots of her hair. Her heart ached for reasons unknown. She just constantly felt like she was in a stuck. She felt as if she were in the middle of a hurricane with rains pouring down on her and winds whipping her in every direction. Darkness all around her and there is no way out. Hopeless.
A tear fell from her eye and she erupted in sobs. Thankful that her roommate was away tonight. She felt the hot tears just overflow and she couldn't stop the sobs. Mia so badly wanted it to stop, she thought about a distraction. Anything. Anything to make the pain she felt in her heart heal.
Luke.
She crawled along the tile floor of her bathroom to where her phone sat on the counter and quickly grabbed it and sat her back against the wall. With the light of her phone blinding her momentarily, she opened up her messages and hesitated. What would she say? Would he even answer? She didn't know what she could say but she knew she needed him. He made her happy.
@Miavera: Luke?
She waited. A minute passed, then two. Mia threw her phone down on the hard tile and sobbed again. She hugged her bare legs to her body and waited for the ache in her heart and body to stop.
Until a few moments later when her phone buzzed... lifting her head and stared at the phone that lay against the tile just a few feet from her. Scooting herself closer to it, she grabs it with shaky hands.
@LukeHemmings: Yeah?
Mia stares at the message. Unsure what to say.
@LukeHemmings: Mia, it's super early there. Why are you awake? Are you okay?
Mia still stares. Starting to regret her decision.
@LukeHemmings: Amelia answer me.
With trembling hands, she types.
@Miavera: No
Luke's message is almost instant.
@LukeHemmings: No what? Are you okay?
A couple of seconds pass before Mia types again.
@Miavera: No
And what happened next had Mia's heart jump to her throat.
Luke's Name appears on her phone.
He was calling her.
