Mia finally had a day off. Of course she was supposed to have saturday and sunday but for the past couple of weeks she was catching up on work and working on her portfolio, so even on her weekends for worked and worked. But, today she was free from any work. She had everything planned out on what she wanted to do today. She was going to lay in her bed and watch New Girl or Gilmore Girls. Two shows that Mia binged regularly. But today was made better for Mia because Luke just so happened to have a day off as well. She wanted to spent all day talking with him because she really did miss him. Whenever he had a show, she had free time. Whenever she was stuck working, he had free time. Their schedules had been clashing the last couple of weeks. Mia really did miss him. She was not going to take the time she was able to have talking to her best friend for granted.
Mia put her hair up in a ponytail and changed into her favorite big tee shirt and made herself oh so comfy on her twin sized mattress.
Her and her roommate Rachel had a small studio apartment that they both worked hard to pay for. Even for the small amount of space they had they still pay an outrageous amount to live there. But the two friends loved this place dearly. It's what made them want to work harder in life. Even if it meant having almost no personal space.
Mia pulled out her handy dandy phone and opened up Luke's contact. She hovered over his contact name, suddenly hesitating. She was going it text Luke. But now she wanted to see him. She wanted to FaceTime him, and she did just that.
The phone rang for a while and for a moment Mia thought he wasn't going to answer. But then there he was. Luke's face appeared beautifully on her phone screen. She took in the appearance of the man she grew so close to.
He was also laying in his own bed, his hair was messy and his eyes showed tiredness.
"Oh I'm so sorry Luke! I woke you!"
Luke smiles at her. Showing his famous dimples. He rubbed his eyes adjusting them to the screen of his phone.
"Amelia," His voice is deeper and rough because of sleep. So hearing her name coming from him, she could have felted right there.
"You can wake me anytime." Luke tells her, his eyes focusing on her.
"I'm happy you and I get to actually talk today." Mia tells him, pulling her blanket up to her face to try and hide her blush.
"Me too, sweetheart."
There was a comfortable pause between the two.
"Hey Luke?"
"Yeah?" He turns on his back.
"I can't wait to see you."
Luke sighs.
"Mia, I just want to hug you so bad."
She smiles, covering her face completely with the comforter.
"What will we do while you are here?" She asks, her voice is mumbled from her blanket.
"I don't know, I'm the tourist. You tell me."
Mia pops one eye out.
"Do you want to do touristy things or something more relaxed?" She asks, then releases a small gasp, uncovering all her face. "Wait, how long are you even here for?"
"Two days, kind of. I arrive the day before the show at 3:00 pm. But I leave early morning the day after the show, like 1 am. Almost right after it's over."
Mia frowns.
"Well that's not long at all." A small pout on her lips.
"Amelia, it's okay." Luke says when his eyes catch gaze of her pout.
"Can I ask something?" Mia hides her face again.
"What sweetheart?"
"Do you have to stay at your hotel?" She asks nervously. But Luke doesn't respond. Mia began to curse in her head for suggesting what she did. I mean he's her friend and she wanted to spend as much time as possible with him.
After quite a few moments of silence Mia peeks out of her blanket, nervous of Luke's reaction. But her heart flutters when she sees the grin on Luke's face.
"No, I don't have to." There is another pause between the two.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Thank you, Luke.." Mia starts. She uncovers her face completely and turns on her side. "For everything. You have no idea what your friendship means to me."
"I can say the exact same about you."
The two smile at each other. An thought pops in Mia's head, she quickly props her phone on her bedside table and rushes to the other side of the room before shifting through a pile of pictures she had on her dresser. When she finds what she had her mind on she turns back and walks back over to her bedside table. But she quickly stops in her steps when she sees Luke's face. He wore a smug smile. Mia knew why too. And she felt her whole body burn with the heat of embarrassment.
She forgot she wasn't wear pants.
Luke Hemmings basically saw her with no pants on.
"Don't." She tells him.
Luke drops his jaw.
"I didn't say anything!" He defends, still smiling.
"But you were!" She defends right back.
"What?" He laughs.
Mia quickly sits in her bed, pictures still in her hand, she adjusts the camera towards herself.
"It's not funny, Luke." Mia genuinely frowns.
Luke stops laughing, sensing her embarrassment.
"Amelia, I'm only playing." He tilts his head.
"You laughed at me." She looks down at her pictures in her hands. She felt stupid now, she didn't want to show them to him now. She was too embarrassed.
"No I didn't!" Luke's tone is serious. "I was laughing but I wasn't laughing at you Amelia. I'm sorry." Luke sits up, realizing his words don't make sense and they aren't making her feel better. "Fuck." He says. "Mia I wasn't laughing at you, I was more laughing at the situation. It was cute." He tells her.
Mia nods. She understood now. But she was still embarrassed.
"What do you have, Mia?" Luke asks, clearly frustrated.
"Umm," Mia looks through her lashes at her phone where Luke looked annoyed.
"I took some pictures, the other day. I thought you would like them"
"Show me." He tells her.
"You're mad." Mia frowns.
"Fuck no I'm not!" Luke frustrates. Mia frowns again, she pulls her blanket over her and pulls her legs to her chest hugging them. Luke takes a deep breath. "Mia, I'm not mad. I'm irritated at myself now because I made you embarrassed when you shouldn't be."
There was another pause between them before Mia pulls up one of the pictures and holds it up for Luke to see.
"I took this yesterday and got it printed as soon as possible because I really wanted to show you. It reminds me of your guys album."
The picture she held was of the sunrise. The colors of the sky were so vibrant and resembles all the intense colors that are featured on the cover of the Youngblood album.
Luke beamed at the photo.
"That's absolutely incredible. Can I have a copy of that?"
Mia smiles with a slight blush.
"Of course."
