Thank you to all those who have voted! It it so disheartening to see how many people are reading without voting or commenting on the story. I do write because I love to write but, honestly, I don't have to post anything or update the next chapter....
It's not much to ask for you to let me know what you think of my writing or the story and the more comments and votes I get the more inspired I am to write and post the next chapter!
For those of you who have actually read my little rant it might also be worth noting that I have actualy already written the next chapter and so it is definately worth commenting and voting! :D
I hope you enjoy!
Chapter fifty-five.
“Well?” I prompt after a good minute of us staring each other down. Not a sound can be heard and I focus on my breathing to keep my head clear and myself calm enough to deal with whatever she may throw at us. She narrows her eyes at me before leaning over to whisper something to one of the guards. I am just about to speak up and hurry her decision when Peeta takes the words completely out of my mouth.
“Cat got your tongue Paylor? Not liking being put in the spotlight? Not liking all the public attention? Now you know a tiny portion of what what we feel like. Come down here, take Caesar’s seat here and come and talk to us, or are you just putting on a front and planning on turning into a second president Snow because that’s what it feels like!” Reels Peeta. I gently squeeze his hand to try and calm his shaking, he hates confrontation but is has to happen this once for us to have a hope at leading a normal life. Plutarch, who is
A collective gasp glides across the audience as Paylor stands up and smooth’s out her suit and skirt. She gives Peeta and me one last dark stare before moving through her presidential box and slowly descends the stairs. The room is so quite that you are able to clearly hear the ringing of her heels on the stone flooring at she reaches the foot of the stage. Times seems to stand still as the woman who is responsible for 44 innocent people to lose their lives. I tighten my grip on my bow as Caesar vacates his seat and offers it up to Paylor. This won’t take long I vow to myself.
“This is what you both wanted isn’t it?” Smiles Paylor and instantly I know she is doing this in a hope to come off as the innocent, people loving president. If I have anything to do with it she won’t come across like that for long.
“What for you to take responsibility for forty-four deaths?” I challenge.
“For me to come up here and talk to you.” She replies.
“So you don’t deny that those people are dead because of you.” I press.
“I did not kill them, I believe you killed a fair few of them Katniss.”
“You chose to restart the hunger games. They wouldn’t have died if you didn’t give the orders for there to be another hunger games. Unlike you I had no choice in whether or not they died. It was them or me and I had a family to get back to.”
“You forget that you were the one who suggested it.”
