The Teddy

I was made in a small toy shop on the corner of Brown Street called Little Edith's Toys n More.

My maker was a young man who people call the toymaker, the owner's grandson. He placed me on a self with others like myself and of different colors. We were soft, plushy with beady eyes and shaped like a bear.

A small girl came up to the counter and I knew she was the one for me.

"Mommy, I want that one", she said.

"Which one Honey?"

"The pink one right there"

They were about three other pink ones but I had high hopes it was me.

The toymaker took me off the shelf and handed me to her.

"You can have her. No charge" he said.

"A gift. Yeah" she squealed.

"For being a good customer" he said and smiled at the mom and her daughter.

She held onto me tight and showed me the outside world as we drove in her mom's car. They were all sort of things I'd never seen before. Trucks, buses, houses, trees and even buildings as tall as trees.

Finally she took me home. To her home.

"This is your new home" she said to me.

When she took me to her room it was there I got a name.

"I'll call you Pinky Pea" she said. Finally a name of my own.

We played this and that together. She slept with me every night. When I was dirty her mother washed me and when I got hurt I was sewn up.

It was great and I thought it couldn't get better.

Then the saddest day in my life came but I didn't know it until later. We were watching TV after breakfast time and they were showing something on TV about the place I had came from.

Introducing a new character in the Little Edith's Toys n More Plushie Friend Line. Pastel Rainbow Plushie Friend.

A song begins to play and I saw Reign, my owner, face light up. Would I be getting a new friend? I never get to play with the other toys.

"Mommy Mommy. I want that one. I want the rainbow" she yelled excitedly.

"You just got Pinky Pie two months ago"

"Its Pinky Pea Mommy but I want that too".

"No. No more new toys".

She made a cute face at her mom.

"You are certainly your father's child. Sure dear".

She placed me on the bed and told me she was getting me a new friend. I patiently waited for her to come home.

I saw her and the new friend come into the room.

"Rainbow Charm you'll be my new best friend"

Best friend but I'm her best friend.

She took me off her bed and threw me onto a pile of her toys. Why did she do that? I looked at the other toys who were covered with dust. Some had the same Little Edith's Toys n More trademark as me and some didn't.

I continued to lay on the pile while Reign played with Rainbow Charm for days, weeks and I wondered when she'd play with me again.

It came a point where I knew I was going to be forgotten just like the others and that was basically the end of me.

The End.
