"You have to kill him, you must." Lance muttered as his sorrows took a firm hold of him. Tears emerged from his eyes dampening Keith's shoulder.
"I'm sorry but I can't. It's too risky."
Keith draped his arms around Lance in a comforting manner. "I'm so sorry."
Lance stayed silent, the only noise being his erratic breaths as he tried his best to hold back tears.
"There has to be some other way, this can't be the end." Keith said in a comforting tone.
"If I were already married..would they be obligated to proceed with the wedding?"
"Possibly. Who ever you would be married to would automatically gain royal status, and they can't-" Keith was cut off.
"Will you marry me then?" Lance looked at him, his mouth formed a smile which contrasted against his feelings of dread.
"I-I can't do that- this is all happening so fast-" Keith was whirled into a combined feeling of panic and excitement.
"The past twenty-four hours with you has been far better than months with him. Keith Kogane will you do me the honour of being my husband." He took Keith's hands in his, the numerous fashionable rings Lance wore on his fingers were cold against Keith's skin.
The magician was unsure of what to say. He indeed had fallen in love with the prince but was unsure if he wanted to accept this offer. He saw the sorrow in Lances deep blue eyes, he wanted to help him get out of this mess in any way..Indeed he loved him, and he did not know what the future had in store for him...So he accepted.
"Yes." Keith said with a nod as Lances face lit up.
Lance pulled away his hands and slide off two rings, the one Lotor had given him and another band that dazzled under any light source. Lotors ring was thrown to the ground and the other one was gifted to Keith.
"My father gave me this before he passed. I want you to have it, as a token of my gratitude." Lance slid the heirloom onto Keith's ring finger.
He couldn't believe this was happening, he was both panicked and joyful. In this small room where the light was minimal and the floorboards creaked, the two had eloped. A passionate embrace broke out between the two, they were addicted to each other.
Just like the first time they had kissed, they couldn't get enough of it, and now that they were technically married, each kiss was much more passionate than the last. Lance played with Keith's hair while they kissed and made him look a bit disheveled.
"Sir!" A servant knocked loudly on the door. "Your presence is requested!"
"One moment please."
"It is urgent!" The servant pushed open the door just a smidge and shrieked at the scene occurring behind the closed door.
"Lance, she-" Keith saw the servant look inside.
"It doesn't matter.." The prince paused for a moment hoping the servant was still awaiting a reply. "I will arrive shortly!" He shouted, then looked at Keith with narrowed eyes. "Are you ready for this?
"Ready for what?" Keith said with a panic, his eyes widening.
"To go out there." Lance said calmly, noticing that Keith in fact was not so comfortable with it. "No one out there can hurt you."
Lance opened the door forcefully and led Keith by the hand out into the open. The new bling that he wore on his unoccupied hand was a dead giveaway that something occurred between them, but he should be okay.
The guests stared and a murmur arose and the two continued onwards to Lotors location.
"Lance! What are you doing!" One of the guests shouted, it was another royal from Altea, with no relation to Lance. Her name was Allura, in his youth Lance had always crushed on her, but he had moved past that.
"I'm married now." Lance confessed quietly to her.
"You...you what?! What would your father think! He's not even of royal blood. You can't just do that." She kept her tone low and was obviously annoyed. "And you," She stared at Keith. "...welcome to the family." She didn't bother scolding a mere peasant.
"I don't have to marry Lotor now, I'm free." Lance said to her.
"You may be free but your people are not free from war. You've done more harm than good." Allura scowled at Lance, she never approved of his antics.
"You marry him then." He fired back. "It'll still solve our problems."
"But your father said..." Allura paused for a second. "I will, I'll do it because I care about the people, not my feelings!"
The girl stormed off leaving the two in the ballroom. Onlookers stared at them as they still held each others hand. Keith scanned the scene nervously, his eyes darting from place to place.
"Hey, it's okay." Lance said to him quietly as they stared into each others eyes. The two met in the middle with a soft kiss, leaving he onlookers lost for words.
End.
