"all i see in you is your mom"

lyne smiled widely as she had just gotten off the bus, running into her home practically almost knocking the door down. she turned to her father as she closed the door with a big smile. chris raised a brow and turned down the tv as his daughter happily dropped her school bag and walked over to him.

"i'm sure school isn't that exciting." chris comments turning his full attention to lyne and lyne chuckled, "it wasn't trust me," she said as she put a piece of hair behind her ear, "but kissing someone surely is." she said and got up to walk away to the kitchen, meeting dodger. she kneeled down to pet the dog with a smile, then looked up at chris's piercing eyes. lyne sighed and watched as he crossed his arms across his chest. "what? i'm sure i can kiss someone without asking for your permission; that'd be pretty weird." lyne said making chris shake his head. "who is it? do i know him? how long was the kiss? did you have sex? is that why you're so happy?" he asked angrily.

furrowing her brows suddenly fearing his reaction she shook her head with a scoff, "dad those are personal questions that i surely don't have to answer to you." she said going to the fridge to grab a water bottle. "it's a question that needs to be answered and that i need to know." he answered and he took a deep breath before sighing. silence was drifted in between them for a bit before lyne huffed. "dad it's just a boy. mom wouldn't have gotten mad-" "leave your mother out of this." he snapped making lyne jump. she rolled her eyes, "well she wouldn't have! i understand that you-" she started before shaking her head, "nevermind. you don't need to know." she mumbled and shoved past her father.

she made her way to her room and threw herself on her bed. she looked at her little echo dot before speaking, "alexa, play my billie eilish playlist." lyne said with a sigh before looking at her phone after seeing her crush pop up onto her screen. smiling gently, she picked up her phone and answered his call, chuckling lightly at his simple question. "yes sean, it's on my top list." she laughs and smiled as to see that he could cheer her up any day. "my dad got mad at me a while ago. you know i tell him everything so"- "you didn't go into details did you?" he asked hesitantly and lyne giggles, "god no, sean. he doesn't have to know everything. i just told him i kissed someone. he got a lil mad, or maybe i did.." lyne sighed and shrugged, "i dunno, but i just know he's mad-" "because he wants you safe, i'm sure. i totally understand that. and of course he knows me, i'm your best friend. well i was your best friend." he said making lyne furrow her brows.

"what do you mean by that?" she asked and sean's chuckle was lighthearted making lyne a little more confused. "darling i wanna be your boyfriend." he answers making lyne's heart flutter. lyne laughs a little before sighing, "god you know you're gonna have to ask my dad about that right? you can come over and we can do it together." she said. "tonight?" sean asked and lyne laughs, "no, whenever you're ready." she said gently before recieving a knock on her bedroom door. she turned her head to see who it was and chris' head poked through with a small smile. "hey can i talk to you?" he asked and let himself in. with a sigh lyne looked at her phone and licked her lips, "hey i gotta go. i'll text you later alright?" she said and said goodbye to sean, putting her phone on the bed.

sitting on the bed, chris sighs gently and looked at his daughter. "lyne you know i love you. so much. i ask these questions because i wanna make sure you're going to be okay. i don't need a boy breaking your heart, lee." he said and lyne sighed, slouching in her seat and looked up at her dad. "but dad that's what dating is all about: learning from mistakes. which i'm sure he won't make and if anything happens i'm sure we'll end on good terms. i'll be okay. i'm okay with letting someone into my heart." she said gently and he sighed, looking out at her window. he smiled gently and nodded, "you always have a positive to everything. like me." he muttered and lyne nodded at him, "what do i have that reminds you of mom?" she asked shyly and he smiled widely and turned to her. "your brown eye, your stubbornness. getting what you want. you're beautiful just like her. all i see in you is your mom."
