"When I first met (Y/n), she was shy, closed off," Gene started, "And I just thought that it was because of being left as a baby. But, as I got to know her... I realized that she was like that because of her family. I slowly started to realize that she was excluded from family events, and quickly realized that she was depressed. I had a fight with Laurence, and I backed off from her, The Ro'meaves, and the Zvhals, and I focused on my group of friends."
The judge looked at Gene, and then at me, and he continued to speak, "(Y/n) doesn't deserve what they've done to her... Laurence was defending her. I was there that day, Zane had said that she deserved it, she deserved to be alone, and that she made their lives a living Hell. They hurt her... They hurt her so much, I believe that the people who should be in trouble here is the Ro'meaves."
"Thank you, Gene," The judge said.Gene left the stand and sat down, "After hearing both sides, I say that the charges against Laurence Zvahl of aggravated assault to be dropped, and The Ro'meave family be charged with abandonment, and their custody of (Y/n) be diminished."
"Wait, hang on Your Honor," Garte stood up, "We never abandoned her."
"You put all her stuff into trash bags and kicked her to the curb in the middle of December. If that isn't abandonment well..." The judge glared at them, "Then I should change my profession. A lawyer will contact you with a court date to go over the abandonment issues."
"Your Honor," I stood up, "What they did was wrong... and I hate them for it. I don't think my trust will ever be above a two, but I don't want them to go through what I went through, with this whole court stuff. So please, withdraw the abandonment charges."The judge looked at me with shock, "Ms. (Y/n), are you sure?"
I looked at the Ro'meaves, and smiled, "I'm sure... I'm gonna be the better person..."
I left the courtroom with Gene and the Zvhals, I took a deep breath and my voice shook as I exhaled.
We walked to the car but stopped, "We did it," Laurence smiled.
"So I'm like... a Zvhal now?" I questioned.
"Yeah, as soon as we get that piece of paper... You're officially a Zvhal," Hayden smiled.I sighed in relief, finally free form the Ro'meave's perfect little family. While I did feel bad for leaving Zane behind in that belittling family... I had to do what I had to do.

We all sat around the dinner table, laughing and cheering at the successful court day. I will officially be a Zvhal at the end of the month.
Gene cleared his throat and stood up, "I would like to make a toast... To Laurence, who fought bravely against the Ro'meaves, and to (Y/n)... Who fought for herself, and overcame every bad thing anyone has ever thrown at her."
Everyone clicked their glasses together, "Cheers!" Everyone laughed. After eating dinner, I stepped outside to the patio and looked at the stars. It was such a beautiful night that I didn't want to leave.
"Hey," Gene walked up next to me, "You okay?"
"Just admiring the beauty of the night..." I smiled.
"Yeah... It sure is beautiful," Gene smiled.I looked over at him and saw him looking at me, "Haha, that's cheesy," I laughed.
"It's creative license," Gene smiled, "But really... what's wrong?"
I looked down, "It's like... you and everyone else is always seeing me when I'm weak..."
Gene turned to me, "You're not weak... You're a survivor..."
Gene made me face him and looked at me with a serious look, "And (Y/n)... that makes you one of the strongest people that I know..."I looked up at him and smiled slightly, "Thank you..."
Gene smiled and wrapped his arm around me as we watched the stars... This right here, this is what makes life perfect.
But now long would this perfect last...?
