FOUR. food for thought

Three days later

Early Saturday mornings were the best things ever, according to Mira. There were no concerns that you had to worry about, no projects due, no major tests. You could sleep for an extra few minutes (or hours) and wake up without the loud blare of an alarm. Everything was completely up to you.

Unless, of course, you had an amazing, extra, loud best friend like Kim Seohee. Then you had no choice but to get up to the sound of a car horn blaring.

"Get in, loser, we're going shopping!" Seohee yelled from the driver's seat. "If I have to wait one more minute I'm setting your house on fire."

"Hey, last time you said you would only stab me!"

"I changed my mind." Mira could hear the bright grin in Seohee's voice.

Mira brushed her teeth, quickly got dressed, and grabbed her sling bag on the way out. She hopped into her friend's Hyundai only around seven minutes late.

"That's a new record. The previous record was 22 minutes 34 seconds."

"Really? Wow, I'm showing some serious improvement."

"Don't get too cocky. I still had time to buy a frappuccino." Seohee held up her Starbucks cup to prove it.

Mira heaved a sigh. "I'm going to get out of my house in less than a minute next time for the sake of your poor teeth."

"Please. All of my back teeth have fillings. I will never not be addicted to sugar." Seohee put the car into drive and commented, "By the way, your outfit's really cute today."

"Thanks, yours too."

Mira was wearing a black pullover and a gray pleated skirt, with pastel pink Vans. She had a beanie to top it off. The outfit was almost completely copied from an Instagram ulzzang she followed, but the beanie made it her own.

"So, what's the game plan, Seohee?" Mira asked.

"Open the glove compartment." Mira did, and a scroll of paper fell out. When Mira unrolled it, it was about a foot long. Seohee had carefully and precisely planned the entire day's activities out.

"Since when do you actually make a schedule?"

"It was my New Year's resolution."

"And you're only starting to do it four months after New Year's?"

"I've always been a procrastinator," Seohee replied as she pulled out of the driveway.

Mira shrugged. Couldn't argue with that.

On the fifteen-minute drive it took to get to the shopping center, Mira and Seohee caught up, for they hadn't talked in depth for about a month. Seohee shared a story of a guy at the cafe where she worked that pretty obviously had a major crush on her. In turn, Mira told Seohee about Hyunggu and Wooseok, her two new guy friends.

When Mira was finished, Seohee turned to her excitedly. "Oh, my god. You had a meet-cute!!"

"I wouldn't call it--"

Seohee wasn't listening. "He helped clean up your boba..." she swooned, the car veering to the side of the road the tiniest bit. "That's so romantic!"

"Watch the road!" Mira warned.

Seohee snapped her eyes forward. "Sorry. Once I park, you better show me a picture of them!"

"I will..." Mira said reluctantly.

Two minutes later, Seohee swerved into the mall's parking lot abruptly, somehow parking perfectly while driving terribly. "Show me!" she said threateningly.
