NINE. a little bit cliché

Kino was stuck.

Not literally, of course. He wasn't hanging from his ankle in a rope trap. He wasn't sinking slowly in quicksand, with his hands about to go under.

No, no, he just couldn't think of anything.

The second Kino had witnessed Wooseok sneaking out of the school, he immediately knew what that giant doofus was planning. Buy a bunch of typical romantic items, say something cheesy to ask Mira to the dance, and just like that, she was going to be his.
Kino thought Wooseok's plan was, honestly, stupid. Hyunggu was a man of sincerity, and he believed that whatever you did, it had to come from the heart, not a convenience store.

Kino needed to one-up Wooseok and his idiotic plan somehow, and the only way to do that was to be genuine. He racked his brain for ideas. A song? That would take too long, and speed was key in this case. A singing telegram? Definitely not his style.

Eventually, Kino settled on a simple note that he would leave in Mira's locker. It was old-school, it wasn't flashy, and he hoped she would love it.

The key word there was "hope". Like how Kino hoped Mira would accept him as being more than just a friend, or how he hoped she wanted to go to the dance with him, not Wooseok.

But before any of those things could happen, he had to actually write the note first. Kino furrowed his brow in concentration. When he was around Mira, he felt a lot of things, and it was hard to put it down into words.

At least he could start it off right, with Dear Mira.

Okay, now for the hard part, Kino thought. He started to write You're my best friend, but thought that seemed slightly pathetic. Everytime I see you, my world lights up sounded too dramatic, I value every second I spend with you sounded like something you would say to your wife or husband on an anniversary, and I have a crush on you was too casual, not to mention extremely straightforward.

Kino puffed up his cheeks and slowly blew air out through his mouth in a long sigh, running his hands through his hair. Why is my brain not working today? He sat for a few minutes, staring at the mop leaning against the wall opposite him. (Kino was in the janitor's closet, but that detail isn't that important to the story.)

But suddenly, his brain kicked into gear. It was like a bolt of lightning struck him with inspiration as he sat there in the dark, the only light coming from a single naked bulb hanging from the ceiling. His pen started moving like it had a mind of its own, words flowing out from its tip like stars during a meteor shower.
Every single sentence that came out was one of Hyunggu's true feelings, things he had wanted to say for so long but never had the courage to.

Dear reader, I don't think it'll be necessary for me to tell you every single detail of what Kino poured into that letter. Frankly, it should be kept only between him and Mira. But I'll let you know that that note would make anyone in the world fall for you if you gave it to them, that every single character written was filled with feelings so deep you could drown in them. With that said, I think you'll get the gist.

Kino burst out of the janitor's closet. Luckily for him, it was passing period, and the flow of students made it hard for faculty to notice a teenage boy coming out of a storeroom.
Looking around, he quickly walked to the hallway where all the lockers were, finding Mira's in a matter of seconds (You could tell it was hers by peeking through the mail slots. There was a sizable poster of Seventeen's Dino on the inside).

He was about to slide the letter in when a teacher stopped him. "Mr. Kang?"

He turned around to face her. "Yes, ma'am?"
