Mira was utterly unprepared for the sheer amount of effort required for a formal.

She had been planning just to throw on maybe a sundress and sandals and just go, but when she informed Seohee of her plan, her friend shrieked in horror.

"Mira, you lazy piece of garbage, I'm coming over," she said, and hung up.

Ten minutes later, Seohee burst through the front door of Mira's house, several evening gowns draped over her right arm, left hand holding a carry case, and her other hand holding a makeup bag. "I can't believe you made me show up 2 hours before Boba Guy's supposed to pick you up."

"I didn't make you show up-" Mira argued, but Seohee ignored her.

"Back to what I was saying. This is going to be a tight squeeze, but I think I can do it. Hey Mira's mom!"

"Hi, Seohee. Thanks for coming over. I wanted to help Mira, but she said she could do it by herself," Mira's mom replied.

"Which we both know's not true," Seohee stage-whispered.

Mira's mom laughed. "You can take your stuff upstairs to Mira's room. I'm sure she won't mind."

"Thank you!" Seohee started heading up the stairs, handing Mira the carry case.

Mira groaned. "Oof. What's in here? This thing weighs like a ton."

"Just a bunch of hair styling tools and accessories. Nothing major."

"Do you really have to be this dramatic? It's just a dance," Mira panted, lugging the carry case up the stairs.

"It's not just a dance. Two of your potential boyfriends will be attending, and you have to wow them. I mean, WOW them."

"Potential boyfriends?"

Seohee actually stopped on the top stair and turned to stare Mira in the eye. "Hyunggu and Boba Guy. I can't believe you actually forgot."

Mira let out air through her nose in frustration. "They see me everyday. I think they know what I look like."

"That's my point. They know what you look like, so this is your chance to take them by surprise. You are going to be the prettiest frickin' girl at the dance when I'm done with you," Seohee stated confidently.

"Sure..." Mira replied doubtfully. "So, what are we doing first?"

Seohee held out the dresses. "Try these on and pick the one you love."

Mira scrutinized them before finally saying, "Can't you just try these on for me?"

Seohee put her hands on her hips. "You're the one going to wear it, not me. You have to try them on."

Mira grumbled, and Seohee shoved the first gown into the other's hands.

It was a wine-red sheath dress that hit Mira mid thigh. To make matters worse, the only thing between Mira's skin and the outside world was a thin layer of lace.

"Seohee, this is much more your style than mine," Mira said as she shifted around uncomfortably.

"I know!" she replied brightly. "That's why I love it."

"Next."

Seohee rolled her eyes, but procured the next dress, a white empire-line gown with a sweetheart neckline.

Mira's eyes lit up when she saw it. "Not bad!" she exclaimed, spinning around, the skirt twirling with her.

Her friend didn't share her enthusiasm, furrowing her brow. "It looks a bit too... wedding-dressy."
