"Serenity, if you keep bringing up extra frosted cupcakes and cookies for me, I'm going to explode," Mother groaned, pushing the tray of sweets aside.

"Drat, you spoiled my plan," I frowned.

Mother snickered as she sat up in her bed.

"Feeling better?" I asked.

"Much," she told. "The doctor says I'll be back to my full health in one days time."

"Great! Now what're you're plans for getting back at Queen Ice Cube?" I eagerly asked.

"What are blabbering on about?" Mother scowled. "We are not planning an attack Serenity. We're trying to prevent a war from starting, not provoking one. Though you are making it very difficult."

I crossed my arms defensively.

"I'm making it difficult?" I scoffed. "Pray tell mother, what am I possibly doing now that is dividing the regions and egging on a war?"

"Serenity, I don't want to argue with you."

"You always say that right before you start an argument."

Mother's wretched pale sunken face scowled at me.

"It wouldn't hurt for you to get more involved in the Spring Region. You don't even make much of an effort to talk to the citizens here let alone assist anyone when they need help."

"Not true, if I fly by and they say hi, I say hi back. And if I see someone who may need help, I help."

"But that's not enough," Mother spoke. "I've never seen you make any other friends besides Micha and Priscilla. It seems as though you're becoming anti-social."

I had a million retaliations at the tip of my tongue waiting to be unleashed.

"Well, being locked in the castle most of the time definitely helps out with that problem," I snapped. "And frankly mother, most butterfly fae don't want nor need my help. Like you keep saying time and time again, I'm the reason the regions are on the brink of destroying each other. My own kind doesn't want anything to do with me but will still be polite and greet me because I'm still a royal who could sentence them to death if they crossed me."

"It still couldn't hurt to make more of an effort to try," Mother coaxed.

"No I think it could," I said with my teeth chattering together.

I screeched as familiar painful chills crept up my body. They were quick and sharp, like froze needles prickling my skin.

"You didn't take your medicine today?!" Mother yelled.

"I forgot," I hugged my body tight as I shivered violently.

Mother called the staff to give me the elixir I have to take on a daily basis, or else something like this happens. It always feels like my body parts are turning to ice.

What happens if I never take my medicine? What would happen to me?

My mother and the medics refuse to tell me what toll is being taken on my body. All I know is, each year the freezing shocks get worse. If I were to even step an inch inside the Winter Region, I'm sure I'd freeze to death in an instant. I'm glad where Charlie lives it always seems to be warm, sometimes too warm.

"Anymore chills dewdrop?" Mother asked.

"No I, I think I'm good," I smoothed my white dress down. "Any chance my punishment can be reduced so I can go pick fluff today?"
