"Listen Lieutenant, I'm sorry that I didn't move when you said but you saw her, she was terrified! I couldn't just leave her! What if -" "Good job Parks." I was interrupted mid rant.
"Wait, what? No bitching? No 'if you carry on your gone'? Nothing?" I asked confused at the small smile he had on his face.
"Why would I say that? You did a great job today, if it wasn't for you she would've freaked out completely." He smiled as he sat down on his bunk gesturing me to take a seat in his chair, doing so I looked over at him still confused.
"Uhm, right, thank you Lieutenant." I smiled at him.
"I heard your coming to Molly's tonight?" He smiled at me, causing me to blush and look away.
"I am indeed, Brett says that she is honoured to be the one taking my Mollys virginity." I laughed as I recalled the earlier memory, hearing a small laugh come from him aswell I looked up to see his, now bigger, smile while he was looking at me almost in a daydream. Remembering what Brett said this morning about reloading the rig after a call I stood up to dismiss myself.
"I've gotta go help Brett reload the rig, and I'm sure you've got a deadline for this paperwork." I smiled looking over the load of papers that littered his desk.
"Yeah I probably should get this finished, I'll be in here till the end of shift." he smiled as he stood beside me too looking over the papers.
"I'll see you tonight though?" I asked almost pleading for him to say yes.
"Yeah, of course wouldn't want to miss your first time." He smirked as he looked at me from the corner of his eye.
Feeling like I had just been hit with a truck of arousal I quickly excused myself and went to look for Brett who I found playing a game of cards with Otis, Herrmann and Casey.
"There you are! What happened?" Brett rushed as she saw me coming towards her.
"It was nothing, just said that I did a good job today." I smiled as I told them what had happened.
"At least there was no tears like there have been with the last couple of paramedics." Otis laughed as he slammed his cards down in defeat as Casey collected the sweets from the middle of the table.
"Right, we've gotta go and refill the Ambo before next shift starts!" She exclaimed as she led me out towards the forecourt. It only took about 30 minutes to sort things out and then it was the end of shift. "I will text you the address and I'll meet you there at about 7?" She asked as we made our way to our cars.
"Yeah of course, I'll see you later." I waved as she got in and drove away.
Just as I unlocked my car a familiar voice caught my attention.
"Lia!" Turning round I saw the man that I never wanted to see again.
"Go away Chester!" I yelled pointing in the direction that he came from.
"Amelia please, I need you! It's only been 24 hours and I'm lost! Please!" He pleaded as he slowly got closer.
"Chester no! I'm done putting up with your shit, I don't need this in my life! You've messed up your life I won't let you do the same to mine!" I told him just as he flung himself forward and snatched the keys from my hand.
"Give me the keys Chester!" I yelled at him seeing his face up close I could see why he was here.
"You're high? You show up at my work on my first day while you're high? Did you think I would suddenly change my mind? That I wouldn't notice? Give me my keys and get the hell away from me!" I screamed at him as his signature 'high smirk' as I like to call it appeared on his face meaning that he wasn't going to go, not without a fight.
"You don't need your keys! I'll take you back to my place, we can go back to normal!" He tried to convince me but it wasn't happening, not in a long shot. Noticing his face dropping slightly I look behind me to see the truck and squad guys leaving the firehouse, eyes focused on me and Chester.
"Everything alright Parks?" Herrmann shouted as they came nearer, obviously sensing that something wasn't right.
"Uh, yeah, just an old friend." I fake smiled at them from over my shoulder, instantly realising that none of them believed me for a second, other than Severide who's glare was focused solely on the drugged up man standing opposite me.
"One Of these your new boyfriend huh? Or is it all of them? I know how much you like to get around!" He laughed as he looked over to the men behind me.
"Go home Chester! I don't need or want you anywhere near me!" I yelled losing my temper not caring about the people behind me.
"Get in my damn car Lia!" He screamed back at me inching towards me slowly, hearing a shuffling sound behind me I turned slightly to see Severides bag resting on the boot of my car.
"She's not going anywhere pal." His smooth voice came from beside me rather than behind which I was expecting.
"And who are you? She's my girlfriend! She'll do what I say!" He exclaimed pointing his dirty fingers towards my face.
"No I'm not! I've told you we are done, finished, finito! I don't want anything to do with you! Now give me my keys and go home Chester!" I screamed losing all sanity I had left after today, I held my breath as he came charging toward me, only for him to be pushed back against the door to my car by none other than Lieutenant Severide.
"If a lady says no, it means no. Like I said before she isn't going anywhere with you." He muttered in a voice that gave me chills, literal chills. With the rest of the house moving to be stood around me Chester realised he had no chance at winning, threw my keys onto the ground and scattered off as Severide removed his arm from his neck.
Releasing a sigh I bent down to collect my keys before turning around and facing the embarrassment head on.
"I'm so sorry guys, I get if you want me to transfer out, nobody likes having to deal with other peoples issues while at work." I smiled sadly as I looked down at the ground.
"Hey, we're family here at 51, you're included." Casey smiled as he patted me on the shoulder and walked towards his truck.
"We'll see you tonight at Mollys!" Herrmann yelled as him and everyone else disbanded to their vehicles in agreements to be at Molly's later on.
"You okay?" A voices asked causing me to jump 10 feet into the air, almost anyway.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm so sorry about that." I apologised looking up at Severide as he took his bag from my boot.
"Hey, like Casey said, your family now." He smiled as he placed his hand on my arm "You sure you're okay?" He asked again, smiling up at him I replied.
"Yeah, I'm fine I promise, I'll see you later?" I asked him, with a nod of his head he walked over to his car, climbing into mine I made my way back to my apartment to get ready for tonight.
