"'That's adorable. You think that I'd help you after your little charade earlier?'" Loki spat in my head. I was still staring holes into the female scientists' head. She was currently facing the innocents, her gun pointed at an older man. His eyes were glazed over with fear and I could see his body shaking.
"'Look, it wasn't my idea to attack you,'" I lied quickly, "'Fury had given me those orders before I went down there. And also, these people probably just stole your blood sample."' I pointed out. The two men were hovering over the computers silently while their fingers clambered over the keyboards expertly.
"'I'm still not hearing a reason to help you."' He casually answered. I felt myself become slightly peeved at his nonchalant attitude towards this. "'But since I've already read your thoughts, I'll tip them off for you. You should really start trying to save those other little humans, Skylar."' And he was gone.
I was having a hard time believing him, considering that lying was practically his middle name. So as the female scientist turned back towards me, I began formulating a quick plan. I made a face at her and sprung off the table.
The gun was pointed at my head and for a split second and I panicked. But then I heard a siren blare. The room slowed to a stop. Nobody moved.
Then there was a sudden salvo of commotion as the doors burst open and all of the men and women fled the room. I watched in slow motion as the three hackers began to make a run for the door. Before realizing what I was doing, I tackled the girl and took over the minds of the two guys. I flung them to the ground almost subconsciously as I tumbled across the floor with the girl. She was yelling at me as I gritted my teeth, and was barely pinning her to the ground.
After what seemed like ages, I heard voices enter the room, familiar voices. Natasha pulled me off of the woman as she stood her up and slammed a pair of handcuffs on her wrists. Clint and Steve were handling the guys and I finally released them from my minds' capture.
"What happened? What did they do?" Fury asked me quickly.
"I'm pretty sure they hacked into something. The guy had been searching for something, I think I saw what it was while I had him in my head. It was something like 'Ignotus'." I replied. Fury seemed to tense up when I spoke that name.
"What's wrong?" I slowly asked.
"It's classified, only level seven clearance agents know about it." He said with an air of anger in his voice. I cleared my throat and put my hands on my hips.
"Well in that case, I'll just read your mind." I snapped. He stared into my eyes and saw that I wasn't kidding. Sighing loudly, he pulled me over into a corner.
"It's about your blood sample." He whispered. I scrunched my eyebrows together and shook my head a bit. Why would a company want my DNA more than something like the location of the undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. bases? I was also mulling over the name Oscorp to see if it rang any sort of bell in my head.
"Ok, well how are we going to get the data back?" I absentmindedly questioned. Tony and Bruce were typing fervently on the computers to gather as much information on the hackers as possible. The thought of them attempting to trace hackers that were able to slip into the most secretive base in the world seemed like a dead end.
"We are working on tactics now. But for now, your main concern is Loki. This in no way excuses you from the investigations." Nick droned emotionlessly. I clenched my fists at his words.
"And how in the heck does it not? This is directly concerning me! It's my blood sample they were stealing!" I cried, glaring at Fury. He merely shrugged his shoulders at me as he received a message from his earpiece. He walked quickly out of the room, leaving me to stew over his negligence of the situation.
