I swear, someone set my body on vibrate. I felt weird in a lot of ways. First off, I felt like someone had poured ice water all over me. Second, my hands burned like crazy. And thirdly, I couldn't think straight. My eyes were locked shut which made me groan with frustration. I heard a faint voice over the roaring in my ears.
"Hey, Steve. I think she might be waking up." A female voice stated. I felt someone lay a hand on my forehead. I tried to talk, but the only thing that came out was a cough. The hand disappeared quickly. I tried again to open my sealed eyes, finally they popped open. I was hit by a wave of nausea. I tried to move my arms, but they were restrained.
"Where, am I?" I slowly spoke. A woman with bright red hair came into view. Then a man with blonde hair sat on my bedside. He looked worried. 'Am I missing something?' I thought. The woman's eyes widened, and the man looked scared. I tilted my head and stared at them with a perplexed look on my face. The lady talked first.
"You're at Shield, remember Skylar?" She asked cautiously.
"What's Shield?" I quietly murmured. I was definitely missing something now. She had a look of confusion cross her eyes for a brief moment, but it passed quickly. She stood up.
"Skylar, I'm going to leave you here with Steve for just a minute, ok? I'll be back with some people that you might know." She faked a smile, then left the room. I just closed my eyes and relaxed. Maybe she was going to go and get my brother. Or my mom. They would explain this to me.
A few minutes later, the door opened, and I slowly lifted my head. Four men were standing in the doorway, none of which I knew. I raised an eyebrow at the lady. She went completely pale at this point. I looked at the other people that were now in my room. One had an eye-patch and a trench coat. Another had short, light brown hair. The other had a weird light glowing on his chest. And the last one held a syringe.
"What's that for? Am I sick?" I questioned. The man with the lit up chest came over and released my arms from the restraints. I massaged my wrists, and sat up.
"You really don't remember us do you? Fury, this is completely your fault." The glow-man stated. The man with one eye walked over to me.
"She has slight amnesia, it'll probably wear off soon. If not, you and Banner will figure out how to fix it." He waved to the guy with the needle. He then exited the room. I wearily looked at him.
"Where is my brother? His name is Dallas." I asked. The doctor sighed.
"I hate to tell you this," he put down the syringe," but your brother is dead." He sounded like it was hard to say. As soon as the words left his mouth, I was overrun with memories, bad memories of Shield. I also remembered Phil, and that he was dead. I still didn't know who the heck these people were though. I let out an awkward sigh. They all turned to observe me.
"Well, you heard that guy, I have amnesia. I just remembered something. My powers, and Phil." I said before they could start playing twenty questions with me.
The guy with the light brown hair grabbed my shoulder. He smiled, and sat next to me.
"Do you want us to take you back to your room? You'd probably be more comfortable there." He stated. I nodded slowly, trying to piece this guy together. Then it clicked. The fight in the forest. Him carrying me. His concern. He was Agent Clint Barton, he was Hawkeye. I gasped, louder than I meant it to be. I looked him in the eye, with the biggest grin ever spreading across my face. He didn't really seem to realize what it meant. I wrapped him in a tight hug as I began to remember the small, finer details.
"Clint!" I managed to say through my happiness. He hugged me closer, and I let him. As he let me go, I felt kinda bad that I didn't remember the others. 'Sorry, I can only remember him right now.' I thought to all of them. The woman just gave a strained grin. Clint helped me off of the table, and I began to walk towards the door.
Before I left, I turned around to look at the room. It was spacious, and had a lot of gadgets. I stumbled as another memory came to me.
"Banner." I whispered. I didn't even know what it meant, but it was obviously connected to this room. As I exited the door, I heard the doctor saying something. Something about how I reacted. How I had exceeded expectations. Expectations of what?
