Clint and Bruce were seated on either side of me as Maria Hill debriefed us on how this whole interrogation is going to work. Because apparently, Nick Fury was too good for us B-team Avengers now, so he was off chatting with Stark and the others. A pang of loneliness dropped on top of me like a ton of bricks.
"Meeting adjourned." I barely hear. Bruce taps my shoulder, and I finally snapped out of my daze. He waved me towards the lab. I didn't feel like brightening my mood, so I sulked all the way to the testing facility.
As we arrived, I unfolded my wings and plopped down on the floor.
"I'm guessing that you completely zoned out during that meeting and you don't have a clue what you are supposed to do now." Clint smiled sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and grabbed a loose piece of paper he was holding out to me. Opening it, I read the procedures of which I was to begin once this person of interest arrives. I could barely make out most of it because it was hand written, and lets just say that I think a monkey could have had better handwriting than Clint.
"Thanks. So when are they set to be back? It's been a while and I-" Clint cut me off.
"Don't tell me that you're missing them?" He joked. I huffed out a breath, crumpled up the paper and hurled it at his face. He laughed and caught it out of the air and tossed it in the trash can across the room.
"Tell ya what, lets go do something to get your mind off of them. I could show you how to use my bow?" He asked. I quietly nodded my head and he clapped his hands together.
"Great! Lets go down to the practice room then." He cheered and I quickly followed.

My back was aching and my arms were hurting from keeping them straight for so long. Clint and I had shot all of the targets in the room. Most of the arrows were scattered across the floor; I'm not a very good shot with the bow.
"Clint, can we please get out the knives?" I whined. He looked me up and down a few times and sighed.
"Only if you sink this arrow," he handed me one of the soft tip ones, "through that bullseye. Deal?" He smirked at me, thinking that I wouldn't make the shot. With my determination broiling, I whipped the bow from his hands and twirled the arrow between my fingers. I quickly aligned the arrow with the center of the target. My muscles shook as I pulled back the string. I took a deep breath in, and I released.
"Ooh, so close." Clint sympathized. I gave him a pleading look. He casually walked to the target and plucked the arrow from it. He slowly strode over and handed it back to me. I smiled widely.
"Last chance, no arguments. If you miss, we go back to the lab." He stated. I nodded and pulled the bow again. I glared at the target, wishing I could just walk over and put the arrow in the bullseye. Giving up on that, I let the arrow slide through my fingers. I looked eagerly at the target, only to have my hope be snuffed out. The arrow was in the upper left-hand corner, so it looked like I was off to the lab again. I sighed dramatically and meandered out of the room with Clint right behind me.

"I thought that you guys were going to be there for a while." Bruce spoke from behind a bright, flashing screen. I huffed out a breath and crossed my arms. Clint gave me a side glance and walked towards Bruce.
"You need to train for overwhelming someone else's mind. So come here and overwhelm me. Or are you too scared?" He taunted. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I walked towards him and Bruce.
"And why do I-" Clint slammed a fist into my stomach, sending me to the ground. My temper flared and I got up quickly. He kicked my legs out from under me before I could regroup and I landed with a loud thump.
"Quit it Clint!" I yelled.
"Who is Clint? I'm a bad guy that's trying to rob you." He said with an angry expression. So my options were get the crap beat out of me or most likely incapacitate myself from taking over his mind. I shook off the pain and jumped to my feet. He took aim for a blow to the head, and I ducked. But the other hand greeted my ribcage. It sent me into a coughing spell, and I raised my hands in defeat.
"Fine, just sit down over there and I'll do it." I warily spoke. He smiled and Bruce stood from his seat and walked over to another screen. He tapped a few buttons, and then put two little stickers on my temples. I read his thoughts, the stickers read my heart rate and other stuff. I plopped down in the chair opposite Clint and cleared my throat.
"Do I have to?" I asked one last time. Clint opened his mouth to answer, when the intercom came to life.
"The package is arriving, the package is arriving. Clint, Bruce, and Skylar report to the cargo deck immediately." The voice stated. I jumped up happily and bolted out of the lab. The guys were running behind me, but weren't near as fast as I was. My chest was still throbbing a bit from that punch, but I shrugged it off and kept running. I saw the giant room come into view, and if it was even possible, I sped up to get there.
When I reached the middle of the deck, I didn't see the other Avengers. Clint and Bruce slowly trotted in a few seconds later, just as the giant hatch opened up. A jet was coming in. The plane was small, and it easily glided to a stop on the make-shift runway. The engines shut off, and the door opened. The first person off the plane was Natasha and she walked over to us. She stood next to Clint and he was oozing happiness. Then I saw him.
"TONY!" I screamed. He had just made it down the ladder when I wrapped him in a hug. I heard him chuckle and squeeze me back.
"I missed you." I smiled. He gave me his arrogant smirk and led me back to the others. Steve was next to step off of the plane, and he hustled over to our little group. I was about to speak, when a wave of emotion wafted over me. Deep-rooted hate, mischief, and other grave feelings spread through me. I gasped and staggered a bit, and Natasha caught me from behind. I watched the door of the plane, two men walked out the first one smiled at me.
The second one stared directly into my soul. His posture was one of rage and ferociousness. He glared at me, and in that instant I knew.
Loki Laufyson had arrived.
