Chapter Theme: Immortals - Fall Out Boy
"Trexdeene!" Mama exclaimed. I was hastily heading out the door, about to go to school. I rolled my eyes, knowing what was coming.
"What, Ma?!" I shouted back, stopping in my tracks to look at her. Her face wore a worried expression.
"Don't you dare run away from me! You know it's not allowed for you!" She shouted again.
"Are you just going to lecture me, Ma?" I sarcastically asked as I started to walk away from her. I may be her rebellious child, but I'm often sweet with my mom.
Seemingly unfazed by my retort, she quickly approached me and wiped the sweat from my forehead. That protective side of her, I cherished.
"I don't need your sarcasm now. I want you to stay safe, I want you to be good," she said seriously. I found myself gazing at my mother's face.
"I am good, Ma. Nothing's wrong, so you don't have to worry. Haha."
I was about to leave the house for school when Mama unexpectedly pulled me into a hug. She's always been this affectionate. That's why I love her to the deepest depths of my heart.
"This comforting hug of mine is a reminder for you to take care," she whispered, and I smiled, hugging her back.
"Thanks, Ma. You're the best!"
When I arrived at school, I was skating in the corridor outside the classrooms when one of the teachers came out and caught me. I picked up my skateboard and whistled, trying to act as if nothing had happened when the teacher stepped outside.
"You know the rules, don't you?" He asked, his eyes glaring at me. I wanted to roll my eyes at him, but I just continued past his classroom.
"Who cares about the rules," I whispered to myself, carefully walking straight and avoiding making eye contact with the professor.
After passing by several classrooms, I set my skateboard down and skated as swiftly as I could. I knew he would check on me again, which is why I heard a loud shout seconds later.
"Ms. Wriley, you—"
I grinned and turned in another direction where he couldn't see me from the hallway anymore. When I arrived at my classroom, I opened the door, and all eyes were on me. Phew! I felt like a superstar.
"Ms. Wriley, you're late again," the lecturer scolded. I didn't even bother looking at her and was about to sit at my desk.
"Yo! Late again," Zanji said. It's because he didn't give me a ride, jerk. Zanji is my neighbor; our houses are right next to each other. Maybe I acted and prepared for a long time that he didn't bother to pick me up and give me a ride in his car.
I raised my middle finger at him. "Obviously." After saying that, I saw him chuckle, which only annoyed me more.
I felt my teacher roll her eyes at me and return to the lecture. While she was speaking at the front, I glanced at my sister's chair.
"Cutting class again, huh?" I murmured to myself. Trevora Wriley, my mother's daughter.
She left the house first, and it was still early, but she wasn't here. Anyway, she's my classmate today in this auditing class.
"Hey, Trexdeene!" Natalie called, my nerdy seatmate. I looked at her and raised my left eyebrow, a sign that I was asking, "What's up?"
"Did you do the assignment in Logic and Math?" She asked. I stared at her for five seconds and replied, "Why would I?" She facepalmed, and I just smirked. Seconds later, she handed me her notebook. I took it and quickly copied all her answers. She thought I was going to review it? Hell no.
