The child had happily skipped to the master's study, he entered and as if remembering he had a companion, turned and asked his much slower friend, "Can I sit on your chair, the other chairs are too low and they make me feel quite small, you see, and I don't feel as small anymore." The old man had been covering the length of the corridor and was out of breath by the time he reached the door, having to struggle for fresh air before he could barely answer the child. He launched to a fit of coughs.
"You can sit where ever you like, I actually prefer the low chairs nowadays."
The child having realized his inconsiderate dash moved to close the door and help his mentor to one of the two chairs that faced his large neatly crowded table. The master had straight lines of open books spread over his table, some were thick as thieves the other were as slim as slim things. Some were opened in the beginning, other towards the end and a few in the middle. A small notebook and pen sat at the little space on the desk in front of the tall chair, the writing pad was empty he realized as the sides of it looked clean and untouched. He wasn't sure he liked the way his master cheated on other books.
The boy sat on his master's chair that had no cushion on the base or the arm rests, he quickly understood why his master didn't prefer it anymore. The sit had been appealing because it was beautifully decorated with different kind of flowers and leaves; today it had reminded him of the strange plant he saw in the garden the last time he met his master, though the chair was embellished with expected colors for typical vegetation
"Tell me child, how are the silver lands. Have they found a way of establishing peace?"
The child smiled as he pranced on the chair, "It's a strange world we live in master, it's not easy to tell who is completely pleasant and who is unpleasant." He stopped moving and put on a serious face.
"For instance, Eithiel doesn't seem to get along with the dark princess, who is not dark, well except for her clothing, and the princess desperately avoids any conversations with Eithiel. The reason for their disagreement is not truly known. However, when i talk to each of them separately ofcourse, they are very nice, their company enjoyable and conversation very smart, quite lively the both of them." The child decided to move, occupying the space opposite his master. The old man pretended he hadn't seen anything.
"And the undecided who are known as the men of Aiznan, their twin commanders are very witty but their leader is very sad and hideous to look at. I can tell Eithiel loves Naro but she can't be with him if her eyes stay open. And Iriel is very kind but her jealousy will be the fall of her, she believes if she marries off Eithiel to Naro so that the Aiznan can join the silver lands, there would be guaranteed peace. But am not sure the undecided have decided to stay, the other tribe leaders are not as inviting."
"And Eweh, the twin commander had a hidden history with Shengena that I was very shocked to learn, it was about their times at the dreams of darkness." The child stopped lost in thought.
The master groaned having not succeeded to follow the child's thoughts. Just as he was about to ask the child to begin from where he last left off, his mouth about to open, the boy started bouncing again , his eyes as wide as saucers. "Oh master, Lin'gon does bare witness, to everything." The old man cleared his throat.
"My dear child, your story telling skills have become poor, I don't have the tiniest idea what you are going on about, maybe if you start from where we last left off."
The boy blushed furiously having realized he had lack etiquette in vividly including his master in the story and events of the silver land. And so the child began from the defeat of the red-winged beasts, the rise of the dark princess, the return of Eithiel, the council meeting and finally the purpose of the servant of Lin'gon.
The old man listened silently, nodding along when the child doubted his attention. The boy was quite cheerful compared to his last reserved narrative at the garden. He felt a bit happy that the boy had come to understand the complexities of the occupants of the world. As the master admired the boy's talent to decipher the affairs of the occupants, invaders, guests and saviors of the silver lands, the child concluded his story.
"And now there is he-who-waits, who I have to say, I would love to meet the stranger, he seems so mysterious, I am not even sure if he is a man and his society sounds quite unworldly. I too wish to know whatever happened to the Scorpios and if somewhere in that world, there are people who are born in other days of the year and most important, if its truly possible for a man to turn into a forest and behave like one." The boy paused to take in a long breath, he had spoken faster than his mind and had forgotten to breathe.
"Master, there are so many things that I don't know that I might wish to know, but I wonder if somethings are better left undisturbed to avoid confusion, until I can establish the reasons to why I seek this truth ?"
The old teacher laughed, "Why I don't know, I was hoping you would answer these very questions for me and soon, I am growing older by the milth and old age has nothing on the horizon. I think Berwina's medicine have passed their best dates."
"Why do you seek answers to such vague questions, master?"
"Because we in Zeal sometimes fear that the knowledge we had seek and the actions we had taken after obtaining such knowledge might not have been helpful rather harmful."
The boy stood, covering the space to stand beside his master, suddenly his face was mournful and his eyes wet. "I want you to live longer master."
The master took his young hands in his frail veined ones. "I can live as long as my story."
"Then I do hope your story continues." murmured the boy, moving the opposite chair closer to his mentor.
The master cleared his throat, "What did the dark princess tell the servant of Ling'on ."
The boys started bouncing again, "She has decided to go East, but not to the East that is Lin'gon, she believed it best to not interfere in the affairs of Losinanda."
