Peter's POV

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the pain that accompanied every breath. It rocked my body in waves, forcing a groan to pass through my lips.

The next thing I noticed was that it was Saturday. Which meant two thing: I was stuck in the same house as Mason for at least a couple of hours, and as long as I made it through the day with Mason it was a lab day with Mr. Stark.

"Fuck," I hissed as I pushed myself off of my bed. Then as I fully stood the world seemed to spin on its axis, forcing me to sit back onto my bed, which sent another jolt through my torso.

After sitting for a few minutes I was able to stand without falling again. After a minute of debating I decided to go and take a shower while Mason was still asleep. Which could go either perfectly fine or very bad depending on if I woke him up.

Once in the bathroom I realized how difficult taking my shirt off was going to be. My ribs protested every time my arms even thought about reaching above my head, let alone actually doing it. But after a few tries, and some tears my shirt was finally freed from my body.

And the sight of what was hidden behind my shirt made my stomach turn. My protruding ribs where a solid mat of reds, purples, and greens even with a full night of supposed healing.

Then looking at my face my stomach once again drops at the sight of my right eye. The bruise had only become worse what with it being hit again last night. The bruise now reached well past my cheek bone, with the lower part of the eye itself showing that one or more blood vessels having been broken. Mr. Stark will definitely notice this.

By the time noon came around I'd managed to stay under Masons radar and it was time for me to leave for Mr. Stark's.

"Um it's uh time for me to um go to the internship Mason." I said nervously, knowing Mason didn't like it when I interrupted his T.V. show.

"What did you call me?" Mason stood from his spot on the couch, walking towards me, "You don't get to use my name boy. You're below me, you're nothing, the gum on the bottom of my shoe is more important than you."

Mason' s hand whipped across my face, sending it to the side with the force of the backhand.

"I'm sorry sir," my voice came out quieter than I meant, being almost a whisper.

Mason dismissed me with a wave of his hand as he walked back to his seat on the couch. I immediately ran for the door, holding onto my backpack tightly, ignoring the shocks of pain traveling through my body.

Once we arrived at the tower I'd realized how difficult getting out of the car was going to be. And by difficult I mean it hurt, a lot. By the time I had managed to get out, Happy was already gone, and I was more than embarrassed. Not to mention that once I was standing my vision turned black for causing me to reach out and grab on to the car behind me until it went back to normal.

I walked into the tower with my head down, ignoring the looks I was receiving as I headed towards the private elevator.

"Hey kid! You can't go in there!" I looked over my shoulder wide eyed at the security guard that called out to me.

"I- um, what?" At this point the security guard had approached me, cautiously eyeing me. I had no idea what to do, this had never happened, all of the guards knew to let me through.

"Come on, let's go, you shouldn't be in here." The guard said as she went to grab at my arm."

"But Mr. Stark- I- he's- Mr. Stark' s waiting." I flinched back from the guards hand,  fumbling with my explanation.
