Stopping fights is something Spider-Man does on a regular basis. Peter Parker on the other hand, not so much. In fact, he tries to avoid interfering in conflicts as much as possible while outside of the suit. Only getting involved when absolutely necessary, for example, when one of the guys fighting in an alley pulls out a knife.

Peter was pulling his phone out to call the cops, deciding it was better to let them deal with the fight, when he saw the guy on top pull a knife out. Dropping his phone and backpack Peter launched himself at the guy, tackling him to the ground. Standing back up Peter goes to help the other guy, who looks like he got ran over with a truck.

"Come on dude, time to go," Peter says, hoisting the guy to his feet before pushing him forward, getting ready to follow after him as he runs.

Peter makes it probably two steps before his spidey-sense explodes in the back of his skull. He spins around just in time to watch as the knife gets plunged into his stomach. Peter stands frozen in shock as the knife repeatedly disappears into his abdomen. As far as Peter can tell the man stabs him at least four times before dropping the knife and running out of the alley.

When Peter looks down, watching as his shirt goes from white to red, he becomes aware of a sharp throbbing beginning to spread throughout his body. Seconds later his legs give out as he stumbles into the alley wall, sliding down it until he's sat on the floor. Every breath sends new jolts of white hot pain until his whole body feels like it's on fire. Every movement, and breath blurring his vision and bringing tears to his eyes.

Lolling his head to the side Peter sees his phone and knows he needs to get to it. He can't die in this alley by himself, can't let himself bleed out without trying to do something. So Peter forces himself to move, forces himself to crawl to where his phone lay even as he gags from the intensity of the pain. By the time he reaches his phone the pain has become so unbearable that he almost passes out. Breaths coming in short gasps with high pitched whines forcing there way out of his throat.

Blood smears on the screen of Peter's phone when he grabs onto it. Transferring from his hands to the phone as he shakily unlocks it, immediately calling the number Tony said would connect to him where ever he was or whatever he was doing, a number that would be forced through with no exceptions, the number Tony said to only use in life threatening emergencies. A number that Peter has never had to call before.

Once he's sure that the phone has started calling it falls from Peter's hand, landing by his head on the floor from when he'd collapsed onto his side. The phone doesn't ring longer than three seconds before it gets picked up, "Peter? Where are you? Are you ok?" The worry in Tony's voice is unmistakable and Peter almost forgets for a moment why he's called, "Shit ok, come on Peter I need you to talk to me."

"Mr. Stark?" Peter's voice is weak even to his own ears, and he's not sure if Tony can even hear him.

"Peter I need you to stay with me ok? I'm on my way," the sound of thrusters filled Peter's ears before Tony started talking again, "Peter I need to know how bad it is, can you do that for me?"

"I-It hurts Mr. Stark, it hurts," Peter cries into the phone, "Please Mr. Stark. It hurts."

"Ok buddy, it's ok. I'm almost there. I'm almost there,"

A sob rips through Peter's throat, the pain that follows it making him whimper, "Tony."

Ironman lands a few feet from Peter, Tony immediately retracting the suit and running to Peter.

"Peter? Can you look at me bud?" Tony says, putting his hand on Peter's cheek, thumb running along his cheekbone.

Peter's eyes slowly find Tony's, "Mr. Stark."

"I'm gonna get us out of here ok?" Tony says as he taps his chest, engaging the nanobots to form his suit around him.

When Tony picks Peter up the pain is nauseating, a long whine leaving him as more tears pool in his eyes.

"I'm gonna need you to stay awake ok?" Even as Tony says it Peter can feel his vision blacking out, and he doesn't have the strength to stop it.

The first thing Peter becomes aware of was how sore he is. His stomach and chest muscles ache more than he thought possible. Then when he looks around the room he realizes that Tony is leaning against the door frame, watching him through his dark sunglasses.

Tony pushes off the wall, walking closer to the end of Peter's bed, "How're you feeling?"

"I'm ok Mr. Stark. What uh what are you doing here?"

"First of all I'm gonna pretend you didn't just tell me you're ok because we both know that's bullshit," Tony ungracefully sits in the chair beside Peter, crossing one leg over the other, "And second of all I'm here because you were stabbed four times. You almost died Peter, your heart stopped."

When Tony takes off his sunglasses Peter can see the dark rings below them. Can see the way his shoulders are hunched in exhaustion. Can even see the poorly concealed worry in the searching looks sent Peter's way.

"You almost died Peter, I thought you were gonna die,"

"I'm sorry." Peter says, looking down at his hands, "I didn't mean to scare you."

A sigh leaves Tony's lips as he runs his hands over his face, "I'm just glad you're okay and that you called me. I can't lose you kid,"

"Where's May?"

"I sent her home to sleep and take a shower, said she'd be back in an hour or two,"

"Oh," Peter says. His eyes have started to droop despite his best efforts to stay awake. His whole body trying to drag him into sleep.

Tony chuckles at Peter's attempts at keeping his eyes open. A fond smile taking over Tony's face.

"Get some sleep kid," Tony says, standing to leave the room.

"Wait!" Peter says just as Tony opens the door. And when Tony turns to look at him, eyebrows raised, Peter can feel his face heating up, "Can you please stay?" Peter asks, avoiding eye contact and twisting his hands together.

"Of course kiddo," Tony closes the door and walks back to his chair, plopping down into it. "Remind me to get new chairs for these rooms when you're outta here, these ones are horrible."

"You could come on the bed with me if you like," The words burst out of Peter's mouth before he can stop them, "Oh um I mean, you don't have to, obviously. I probably shouldn't have even said that, that's a weird thing to say. Its just that whenever I've been in the hospital May always lays with me and it helps me sleep, but I'll be fine! Yeah I'll be perfectly fine, don't-"

"Kid," Tony interrupts Peter's embarrassed ramblings, "It's fine, but you do have to scoot over and make room for this old man,"

"You really don't have to Mr. Stark, I'll be fine," Peter says, even as he moves over so Tony could lay down next to him.

"I know I don't have to, but frankly I'm tired and would rather not sleep on these absolutely horrid chairs," Tony stands and carefully lays himself next to Peter. "Ok now come here, we can't have you falling off the bed." Tony says, letting Peter shuffle closer to him and slipping his arm under Peter's head until Peter is completely against Tony's body.

Peter let's his head lay against Tony's side, sinking into the warmth of Tony's body.

"Thank you, Mr. Stark."

"Yeah yeah, now go to sleep."

And when May walks in, not even an hour later, she finds both boys asleep. Both looking so relaxed she can't help but take a picture and send it to Pepper.
