Family Pressure

Chapter 2: Sports

-3 years later- 

It was alumni night at their parents old high school they were hosting a game for them to play in. Ellie and the girls put on their old high school cheer shorts on and red sports bras cheering old cheer routines for the game. Maddie was standing on the bleachers following along as she watched Ellie. 

Bucky was watching the game "Grandpa James..where's my daddy?" he said 

James Sr said "Daddy is number 24 he's the wide receiver. You know that is what Steve plays on your team." 

"Oh.." he said 

"You play what on your team my boy" James Sr.

Bucky looked down "I play kicker cause the coach said I'm the smallest of the boys." he said 

"That's okay one day you'll be big." James Sr. 

He looked at Josh as he played quarterback after the game was over and the offensive alumni won the game Josh walked over to Ellie just like he use to do and he kissed her. Bucky walked over to him and tugged his jersey. "Uncle Josh.." he said

"Hey little James what's up?' he said as he squatted to him. 

"What position did you play?' Bucky said 

"I played quarterback all my life little guy." he said

"Oh..is that good?' he said 

"Well yeah..what is it little James you seem upset?' Josh said 

"I want to play quarterback can you teach me how. " he said 

"Little James you already play football you have been since kindergarten.." Josh said 

Ellie saw "Little James what position do you play?' as she squatted down to him.

"The coach won't let me play anything but the stupid kicker cause he said I'm to small for any other positions.." he said 

"You aren't to small for quarterback I'll talk to your daddy okay." Josh said 

"Okay. Does this mean you'll help..me" he said 

"Once I talk to your daddy and see what's going on then we will go from there. There is no reason why a Barnes isn't playing any thing more than a kicker." Josh said 

The next day at the gym Josh and James met the guys for a workout session before class they were in their last year of medical school. "Hey Barnes.." Josh said as he did the bench press as James spotted him.

"Yeah.." he said 

"Why did your son tell me last night that he wants to play quarterback? And why is the coach being such a dick and telling him he's to small to play anything else but kicker. James could play quarterback or hell a fucking tight end." Josh said 

James sighed "Because Winnie was so scared that he was going to get hurt so she convinced the coach to put him where he couldn't get hurt. I wasn't there cause I had a late class. Why did he come to you?' he said 

"He wants me to teach him how to play quarterback." Josh said as he wiped the sweat off his face.

"No one better" Eric said as he did a curl. 

"I know..I don't mind " James said 

"Good..no reason why a Barnes should be sidelined." Josh said
