casualty Ruby & Archie

Chapter 4

Ruby's POV

I crash into the room frantic Archie, where is Archie the flames surround my trying to suffocate me I glance around the room looking for a way out the only one is right in front of me a window I run and Archie appears I grab her and crash through the window, the sensation of falling jolt's me awake. What. Was.That, I think pushing feelings away and embracing the modern tech, I hate feelings they're so confusing so I open my phone, unfortunately  I have a text from Archie I grin just a tiny bit and remind myself I don't have emotions  and open the text. Hey Red, where are you? , Archie. I glance at the clock worried i've overslept but my shift doesn't start till tonight may as well get some sleep if i can i text Archie explaining why I'm not in but then fall back into a deep sleep not forgetting to set my alarms of course.

I wake and It's nearly time for my shift so i get ready fast as lightning and drive to the ambulance bay i see Archie getting in her car she gives me a small wave i know I must look awful and quickly pat my hair she grins and I hurry off before I look like a red tomato.
Archie's POV

I grin and head home I grab a glass of wine and am just about to take a sip when my phone rings it's Connie she never called me unless it was an emergency. "What's up Connie " I ask tiredly "look Archie I need a favour, there's been an ambulance accident down at the mines you live the closest to the accident and no emergency vehicles can get through" she explains rapidly. She doesn't have to say anymore I rush out the door yelling I got it down the phone all I can think about is Ruby how it could be her.

I Sprint down the steps of the quarry already I can see why ambulances can't get through the entire road is blocked by the the quarry falling so all the responsibility lies with me. I push the rocks away to see the yellow glow of an ambulance.

Ruby's POV

My head seems trapped in some way I immediately want to free it but something tells me that's not a good idea  at all so instead I open my eyes and take in my surroundings. I seem to be in some sort of cave, no quarry I remember now we got a call that someone was trapped down the quarry, so when we drove down along the treacherous path we expected to find someone in extreme pain but instead we saw  three young lads running away above us "ugh another prank call, that's the third one this month" Iain says crossly and hops back in the ambulance I do the same and he just puts the keys in the ambulance, when rocks start to fall "Iain get down" I yell covering my head then I black out.

Archie's POV

I throw the rocks behind me carefully, I do not want to cause another avalanche especially as I don't have any protection. I fight my way through the debris and finally get to the side door, I gasp, Ruby!! Oh no, luckily I could see her chest rising and falling I yank open the door and begin clearing the rocks and other stuff that's on top of Ruby and Iain she's barely  conscious. I release the seat belt and begin to assess the situation and damage to both of them. Ruby's the one I'm the most concerned about not just because I like her but because her shin bone is sticking out of her leg I work as fast as I can on both of them to keep them stable just as I'm starting to lose hope a helicopter flys down to where I am. I feel exhausted but I continue to help the paramedics stabilize both of them.
I take a leaf out of Ruby's book and tag along with them finally after what seems like hours we arrive at Holby. I rush with the paramedics running with the gurney we crash into the ED and all hands are on deck we lift them both over and the doctors begin helping each other tend to the two's injuries. I want so badly to help but Charlie pulls me aside "Archie you're exhausted you worked a 26 hour shift before you had to rush over to save Ruby and Iain. I'm very cross and state angrily"I could work another 26 hours, just let me help" as I say this my legs give way and I collapse Charlie catches me and takes me through despite my protections. Later as Ruby and Iain are heavily sedated and I'm patched up, I March into Connie Bechaump's office "why didn't you do anything" I demanded angrily "Dr. Hudson I advise you to keep your voice down" I was too angry to care " all the while Ruby was almost dying you were in he doing **paperwork**" I say with air quotes "tell me Connie what the hell is going on!!"
