Chapter 9

Ruby's POV

I smile as I wake up, despite having a pounding headache I can't get Archie out of my head the way she laughs when she smiles I feel like the world is falling apart and coming together all at once only she makes me feel like this. Ugghh I sigh the headache finally ruining my mood I put on my slacks and head to work, I smile as I arrive Archie's waiting by the ambulance her cool eyes piercing into my soul. I grin and kiss her quickly she tastes of honey and lemon, I steal her baseball cap and wave it around teasingly, "I'll give it back at the end of the day" I grin poking out my tongue. "You'd better" she Huff's and gets paged to the hospital. "Gotta go, but I'll see ya later okay" she says and hurry's back to Holby.

Archie's POV

"Hey what's happening" I say as I put on my latex gloves there's a man on the gurney with his intestines falling out. "40 year old male got stabbed on the way home from work in an attempted robbery" Charlie says as me and Will get to work, despite despising the man we actually work well together the day Rushes by in a haze of patients, puke and a lot of blood.
Then Charlie brings us together
"hey gang I need people to go out to Waivers way, there has been a serious bus crash Archie I want you to stay here as you went out the last time be prepared for serious injuries". He says clapping his hands. I'm immediately on my feet getting everything ready for the influx of patients, and boy do they flow Ruby's in and out like a boomerang, a few times I catch her massaging her temples "hey you ok" I asked
"yeah I'm fine just a bit of a headache  long day not a lot of sleep" she says tiredly brushing me off. I frown this is not like Ruby at all.

Ruby's POV

I feel bad brushing Archie off but I'm so damn tired I think as my vision blurs I sigh, I just needed another bottle of water and maybe an aspirin or 20  but then everything suddenly goes dark and I feel the floor falling towards me.

Archie's POV

A rush over and catch her before she hits the ground she's out cold I yell for a wheelchair and a nurse pushes it underneath Ruby as I wheel her over I realise the whatever is wrong with her, it's serious she's been rubbing her temples all day she's been tired she's been angry she's just not herself I took her up to machines and she's sighs, the pain is evident and I just want to make it go away I know I'm  too close to this,
but there's no one else here, well there is, but they're so busy and theatre won't be ready for another good 4 hours as they've been doing this serious procedure on one of the drivers of the bus. I figure out pretty quickly that she needs a CT scan NOW!!! .I will the gurney to the elevator and try not to let my heart explode from worry despite everything, despite only a couple of months ago not wanting to let my walls down to anyone, This girl has wormed my way into her my heart and she's the only reason it's beating it beats for her.
The elevator cannot be fast enough as the doors open I slam into CT being careful but very fast at the same time whatever is wrong with her needs to be fixed now I've given her painkillers so she's out like a light but whatever is going on this is not a temporary fix as I wait for the CT tapping my fingers and my feet terrified of what my eyes will show me on the pictures.
It doesn't show anything but that doesn't make any sense the symptoms she's showing a very clearly from her brain I decided to try something something I've only seen Connie Beauchamp do. I feel a needle with a special formula that can make blood vessels show up on a scan I'm doing this entirely on instinct I press a needle into a vein and wait for it to take effect then I put on the brain scan again this time I realised what's wrong it's an aneurysm, you may not know what that is but it's like a build up of blood in your brain most can kill you if left untreated could kill you any second however there is a treatment but it would need Major surgery but if we wait that long she could die and I really don't want to do that that.
After an hour I snap  "ok I'm going to have to do it here," but she... she could die, but if we wait any longer she will definitely die Will I know what I'm doing will you please help me" I ask a wild look in my eye, "I can't let Red die" he nods and I scrub in I set up the scary looking tools, I can't believe that I'm going to do this on the girl I love. But with no Miss Beauchamp and no theatre I have no choice, I take a deep breath my hands shaking a look at well and he nods he knows I can do this, I know I can do this
I breathe out and insert the needle into her brain as I watch the screen I see the blood flowing to the other parts of her brain and I sigh a breath of relief. Miss Naylor comes down and fetches Ruby herself she looks at the screen and gives me a curt nod this is Jac speak for you did a good job or as good as you can when you're not a surgeon.
There's nothing I can do now but all I can do is pace up and down, waiting for news.

Ohhhhh another cliffhanger I know I'm the worst but also the best because I make great fanfiction not bragging or anything obviously anyway hopefully I'll update soon see ya.
