Jenny lay silently on the cool floor. Her chest ached with every breath and she had a headache forming across her forehead. Her power was the lowest it had been for as long as she could remember and the curling blackness had settled in her chest like a solid weight.

She blinked open her eyes to find Luca hovering over her, worry etched into the lines of his face. When she met his eye, he let out a sigh of relief, "Jenny, Jenny you're OK. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

Jenny pushed him off of her and slowly sat up, though regretted the action as the room spun around her. Her head was noisy, too many voices filling it at once. A side effect, of contacting the other side. She raised a hand to her head and groaned, "it feels like there's a thousand people debating politics in my head right now."

Luca looked over her shoulder and then back down to her, "I can hear voices too. I think someone's here." He jumped to his feet and Jenny could only watch, too weak to move, as he slipped out of the door and into the corridor.

When the sounds of fighting began, she tried to move to help, tried to summon an ounce of her power, but...she could barely keep her eyes open.

Luca stumbled back into the room, eyes wide and wild. He ran towards her, grabbed hold of her and the next thing she knew, they landed hard in the alley outside.

She groaned as she rolled onto her side and pushed herself onto her knees, "Luca, what happened?" She asked weakly, as she searched the alley for an answer, only to find Luca slumped against the wall, a thin line of blood leaking from the side of his mouth.

She searched in the darkness for a sign of a wound on his body, and recoiled at the sticky patch on his side, but it wasn't the blood that sent terror down her spine, it was the talon still lodged in the wound. Whatever had attacked Luca had talons, which were almost always poisoned, and she didn't have enough power left to save him.

Preying to whoever was listening, she grabbed Luca's arm and summoned the small trickle of power that had slowly regenerated and without further thought, she teleported them towards Fenton.
